CJ Rosser, a 2027 five-star power forward from North Carolina, has received a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball.

I had noted in another recent column that the 6-foot-10 Rosser had heard from the Orange staff since June 15, when the contact period opened for the 2027 cycle, enabling college coaches to initiate direct communication with rising high school juniors.

However, according to posts on X and several recruiting services, Rosser does hold a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse. A huge congrats from Orange Nation to CJ!

Rivals.com currently has Rosser as the country's No. 1 national prospect in 2027. Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, at the time of this writing, placed Rosser in the top three overall, as well as the No. 1 power forward and the No. 1 player from North Carolina.

Naturally, the 'Cuse staff will face steep competition to prevail for Rosser, who is a standout at Northern Nash High School in Rocky Mount, N.C., and the 16U squad of the Charlotte, N.C.-based Team United in Nike's EYBL league.

Syracuse basketball has entered the recruitment of 2027 5-star PF CJ Rosser.

Last month, Rosser helped USA Basketball capture the gold medal at the FIBA U16 Men’s AmeriCup in Juarez, Mexico, where he played alongside another recently offered Orange target, 2028 five-star shooting guard Colton Hiller.

At the event, Rosser averaged 17.1 minutes, 13.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 1.8 blocks per contest while making 56.1 percent from the field, 42.9 percent from beyond the arc and 81.8 percent from the free-throw line.

So far during the current EYBL season for Team United, Rosser is averaging 20.1 points per contest, which is No. 7 overall in the 16U division, along with 6.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per affair. He's connecting on 49.5 percent from the field, 37 percent from downtown and 68.3 percent from the charity stripe.

Per recruiting Web sites and social media posts, Rosser's full scholarship offer sheet includes other schools such as Arkansas, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, N.C. State, TCU, Texas A&M, Southern California, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Alabama, Miami, North Carolina, Kansas and Texas, among others.

As a sophomore during the 2024-25 term for Northern Nash, he averaged 18.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He picked up an honorable mention nod for the 2024-25 MaxPreps sophomore All-America teams.
