Boeheim's Army has added a 10th player to its roster this summer, and it's a big one.

Via X, the team announced on Wednesday that veteran point guard Frank Mason III, who hails from Petersburg, Va., has come on board to help Boeheim's Army go on a deep run starting next month at the 2025 The Basketball Tournament ("TBT"), the $1 million, winner-take-all annual event.

A huge congrats and welcome from Orange Nation to Frank! One of the most decorated players ever to suit up at Big 12 Conference member Kansas, Mason played in the NBA for several years and has spent time overseas. Most recently, he has played for Leones de Ponce, a professional team based in Puerto Rico.

Boeheim's Army is a collection of former Syracuse basketball stars and other standouts, named after former long-time 'Cuse coach and Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim. One of the most successful squads in TBT history, Boeheim's Arm won the cool $1 million back in 2021 and has an all-time record in this tournament of 25-8.

Syracuse basketball just brought on board a huge addition in the backcourt.

Mason, as a senior for the Jayhawks during the 2016-17 season, averaged 20.9 points, 5.2 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.3 steals per encounter while making 49.0 percent from the field, 47.1 percent from beyond the arc and 79.4 percent from the free-throw line.

In guiding Kansas to a 31-5 overall record and a berth in the Elite Eight of the 2017 NCAA Tournament, Mason was named the national player of the year and a consensus first-team All-American.

Last summer, Mason suited up in the TBT for a Kansas alumni team, Mass Street. Playing in three games, he averaged 18.0 points, 5.3 assists and 1.3 rebounds per game while connecting on 51.2 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from downtown and 50.0 percent from the charity stripe.

The Boeheim's Army 2025 roster looks like this: non-Syracuse basketball alum are Mason, point guard Jacob Gilyard from Richmond, power forward Nick Perkins from Buffalo and center Noah Starkey from Southern Nazarene.

Former Orange hoopers include shooting guard Buddy Boeheim, forward Jimmy Boeheim, center Rakeem Christmas, big man Chris McCullough, shooting guard Malachi Richardson and wing Elijah Hughes.

Regarding Mason, Boeheim's Army general manager Shaun Belbey told Syracuse.com Hall of Fame writer Donna Ditota, "We needed another ballhandler. Someone we could trust with the ball in their hands and the game on the line. We felt like he was someone who was gonna come in and be ready to take on that role."

Earlier this week, we learned that Boeheim's Army is the No. 1 seed in the Syracuse regional, which it is hosting. The team will first play against the No. 8 seed Herkimer Originals on Saturday, July 19, beginning at 6:00 pm EST and airing on FS1.

Boeheim's Army's head coach this summer is Syracuse basketball assistant Allen Griffin, while Jim Boeheim is the head coach emeritus. Businessman and philanthropist Adam Weitsman returns as the Boeheim's Army chairman, the same role that he held in 2021.
