Boeheim's Army, a roster of former Syracuse basketball players and other hoopers, has received one of eight No. 1 seeds in the upcoming The Basketball Tournament ("TBT"), a $1 million, winner-take-all annual summer event.

The TBT revealed the full 64-team bracket on Tuesday. Boeheim's Army is the No. 1 seed in the Syracuse regional, with games to be played from July 19 to July 23 at the SRC Arena on the campus of Onondaga Community College.

The first battle for Boeheim's Army will come against the region's No. 8 seed, Herkimer Originals, on Saturday, July 19, beginning at 6:00 pm EST and with television coverage on FS1. Herkimer Originals, with an all-time TBT record of 0-1, is a minor league basketball team that suits up in the American Basketball Association ("ABA").

Here is the Syracuse regional's bracket:
No. 1 seed Boeheim's Army vs. No. 8 seed Herkimer Originals
No. 4 seed We Are D3 vs. No. 5 seed Layne’s Hope
No. 3 seed Green Mountain Men vs. No. 6 seed Rise and Grind
No. 2 seed Stars of Storrs vs. No. 7 seed Brown Ballers

Boeheim's Army will soon commence its TBT run.

Over the weekend, I wrote a piece where I went a bit more in-depth about the eight teams in the Syracuse regional. Check out the article here.

Back in 2021, Boeheim's Army won the $1 million grand prize, and the team has an all-time record in this tournament of 25-8. The squad's roster includes former Orange players such as shooting guard Buddy Boeheim, who is garnering TBT MVP buzz, forward Jimmy Boeheim, center Rakeem Christmas, big man Chris McCullough, shooting guard Malachi Richardson and wing Elijah Hughes.

Non-Syracuse basketball players on the Boeheim's Army roster are point guard Jacob Gilyard from Richmond, power forward Nick Perkins from Buffalo and center Noah Starkey from Southern Nazarene. The chatter is that Boeheim's Army could add a 10th player in the near future.

Syracuse basketball assistant Allen Griffin is the head coach of Boeheim's Army, Jim Boeheim is the squad's head coach emeritus, while Adam Weitsman, the businessman and philanthropist, will serve as chairman. Former Orange guard Shaun Belbey is the Boeheim's Army general manager.
