National analysts and scouts had been opining that new Syracuse basketball target Quinn Costello would skyrocket in the 2026 rankings sooner rather than later. Those experts were correct in their assessment.
The 6-foot-10 Costello, a fast-rising wing/power forward from Massachusetts, went from unranked to No. 74 overall when 247Sports updated its 2026 ratings on Wednesday. That's a huge jump, and well-deserved for Quinn.

Following that refresh, 247Sports places Costello as four stars, No. 74 nationally, No. 14 at power forward and No. 2 in Massachusetts. He's also just outside the top 100 overall, according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.
In reviewing those high school prospects who made large moves in the latest 247Sports rankings, it became clear to me that Costello soared as much as virtually any other player across the country in the 2026 cycle.

The skilled 6-foot-10 forward has been viewed as a potential high-major prospect for a couple of years now, but has made a significant jump in recent weeks. https://t.co/xoVOobhUyT pic.twitter.com/tt2NRjASMR
Costello's meteoric rise stems from various factors. Recently, he's played at an ultra-high level at several showcases, including the Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas, where he was named co-MVP, and the National Basketball Players Association ("NBPA") Top 100 camp in Rock Hill, S.C., an event where Orange coaches were on hand.

Costello is a rising senior at The Newman School in Boston. During the current AAU season, he's caught the attention of national analysts and scouts for his performances with the 17U team of the Boston-based Middlesex Magic in the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league.
National analyst Patrick O'Brien, the director of operations at Phenom Hoops, recently published an in-depth piece on Costello, writing in part, "Costello finished the NBPA Top 100 Camp averaging 14.8ppg, 5.2rpg, and shooting 52 percent from the floor overall and from behind the arc, displaying an impressive ability to score the ball from all levels of the court. Watching him in action, Costello came out quickly and showed his range, operating well in pick-and-pop situations, making the defense pay in leaving him open from behind the arc. He showed that consistently throughout, finishing the event going 16-for-31 as a 6’8 prospect. Costello’s comfort level in stretching the floor was impressive, but his overall efficiency on the court was outstanding."
