I had hoped this would transpire.

Not too long ago, I wrote a column opining that Syracuse basketball coaches should offer a scholarship to fast-rising 2026 three-star wing/power forward Quinn Costello from Massachusetts.

On Friday, my wish came true.

The 6-foot-10 Costello, who has balled out at two recent showcase events, said via his X page on Friday that he has picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange staff. A huge congrats to Costello!

According to national analysts and scouts, a case can be made that Costello is currently the hottest prospect around the country in his class. While he's currently rated three stars and in the top 150 overall, experts say Costello will jump to four stars and inside the top 100 of the 2026 cycle soon, with even more room to climb in the national rankings.

Syracuse basketball has gotten into the fray for 2026 three-star prospect Quinn Costello.

Costello is a standout at The Newman School in Boston. On the AAU circuit this spring, he has shined for the 17U team of the Boston-based Middlesex Magic in the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league.

Not too long ago, Costello caught the attention of many analysts and scouts for his play at the prestigious Pangos All-American Camp, where he was named co-MVP of the camp. Dinos Trigonis, who runs the camp, told me via X that regarding Costello. "One veteran NBA team scout compared him to Keith Van Horn today."

That's select company.

Earlier this week, with several Syracuse basketball coaches on hand, a source told me, Costello was one of various 'Cuse recruiting targets in the 2026 and 2027 classes who were praised for their performances at another prominent event, the National Basketball Players Association ("NBPA") Top 100 camp, which occurred in Rock Hill, S.C.

According to his X page, some of Costello's other recent scholarship offers have arrived from Michigan State, Providence, Boston College, Texas, Michigan, Purdue, Penn State, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Vanderbilt and Notre Dame.

His offer sheet also includes schools such as San Diego, Stanford, George Washington, Albany, Brown, Bryant, Fairfield and Harvard, among others, per recruiting Web sites.
