Dylan Mingo is one of the hottest prospects in the 2026 class these days, national analysts and scouts say, with Syracuse basketball reportedly in pursuit of the five-star, top-10 national prospect.
Mingo is a 6-foot-5 point guard and a standout junior at the powerhouse Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., which is a member of the prestigious 14-team Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic").
In his latest national top-25 rankings disclosed this week, ESPN recruiting director Paul Biancardi has Long Island Lutheran at No. 17 around the country, and Mingo is a key piece of the Crusaders' 2024-25 roster.
Other members of the Long Island Lutheran line-up in the current campaign are four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony, who is officially signed with the 'Cuse in its four-member 2025 class that ranks in the top 10 overall, and 2027 four-star wing/forward Moussa Kamissoko, who picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange staff in late December of last year.
Syracuse basketball is in pursuit of 2026 five-star PG Dylan Mingo.
In an article this week, top 247Sports national analyst Dushawn London chatted with Mingo about his recruitment. London wrote in part that the Orange is among those suitors in the mix for Mingo and that have come to Long Island Lutheran to visit him.
It's not clear to me whether Syracuse basketball coaches have offered Mingo a scholarship. I didn't see a 'Cuse offer noted by any of the primary recruiting services, although Mingo's full offer sheet includes schools such as Cincinnati, Dayton, Florida State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Providence, St. John's, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Washington, Alabama, Illinois and Oklahoma State, among others.
At the time of this writing, within his class, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking place Mingo at No. 11 nationally, in the top three at point guard and No. 1 in New York.
Earlier this week, On3 refreshed its top 150 for the 2026 cycle. In this update, Mingo arrived at No. 9 overall, No. 1 at point guard and No. 1 in New York.
On the AAU circuit, Mingo runs with the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals in Nike’s EYBL league, which is the same grassroots hoops program of Kamissoko. Last spring, during the EYBL regular season, Mingo averaged 19.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists per contest for the 16U squad of the PSA Cardinals.
Last July, amid the EYBL's annual season-ending Peach Jam tournament in North Augusta, S.C., he tallied averages of 14.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per encounter.
Top national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw of On3 recently had this to say about Mingo. "Not only does Mingo have the positional size coveted at the point of attack, but the cycle’s No. 9 overall player also has natural instincts and feel. He has a crafty handle and the pace to get into the teeth of the defense and make a read. Not only does he elevate the floor of each team he is on, but he also raises the ceiling. Mingo is an excellent defender, collecting deflections throughout the course of a game. The jump shot form is different, but he is making it this season."
To date, I'm aware of at least 15 prospects in the 2026 class who have landed a scholarship offer from the Orange coaching staff, including several point guards, such as five-star Deron Rippey Jr., four-star Neiko Mundey, four-star Miles Sadler and four-star Anthony Brown Jr.
