Talented shooting guard Kiyan Anthony from New York City, one of four 2025 prospects who are signed with Syracuse basketball in this class, will soon take a visit to the Hill, according to a media report.

Top national reporter Joe Tipton of On3 reports that the 6-foot-5 Anthony plans to be in attendance at the JMA Wireless Dome when the Orange hosts fellow Atlantic Coast Conference school Wake Forest. This ACC clash is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec 31, with a tip-off at 2 pm and television coverage on ESPN2.

Following Syracuse basketball's rough loss to Maryland this past Saturday in Brooklyn, N.Y., the Orange resides at just 5-6 overall and 0-1 to date in ACC competition. Syracuse basketball will wrap up its non-conference docket when Bucknell travels to Central New York on Saturday, Dec. 28, beginning at 2 pm and airing on The CW.

Last month, Anthony chose the 'Cuse over other finalist Southern California out of the Big Ten Conference. Also in November, the Orange officially signed four players for its 2025 cycle, which when I wrote this article arrived at No. 8 around the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

The program's other 2025 commits are five-star forward Sadiq White Jr. from Charlotte, N.C., four-star guard Luke Fennell from Melbourne, Australia, and three-star wing Aaron Womack from the Milwaukee area.

Syracuse basketball will soon get a visit from 2025 four-star commit Kiyan Anthony.

Anthony is a senior and key contributor in the 2024-25 campaign for the powerhouse Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., which is a member of the loaded 14-member Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic"). Due to an injury, Anthony hasn't played for Long Island Lutheran of late, but social media posts indicate that he's expected to get back on the court soon.

Anthony, within the 2025 class, is a top-30 national prospect per On3. Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking place him in the top 35 overall of this cycle, as well as a top-10 shooting guard and the No. 1 player from New York state.

The 'Cuse coaching staff prioritized Anthony for a long, long time during his recruiting process. He picked up a scholarship offer from the Orange in November of 2022. In late October of last year, Anthony took an official visit to Syracuse basketball, and some reports earlier this year suggested that he was eyeing a second official visit to the 'Cuse before making his college decision.

At the start of the fall recruiting period, in early September of 2024, Anthony also conducted an in-home visit with Orange coaches. The 'Cuse staff, on numerous occasions, likely also watched him suit up in high school and AAU contests, the latter of which as Anthony shined for the Baltimore-based Team Melo in Nike's EYBL league.

Here's a recent evaluation of the son of Syracuse basketball legend Carmelo Anthony by top On3 national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw: "Scoring is the thing with Kiyan Anthony. He is wired to score the ball. And, year over year, his game has continued on an upward trend. Standing 6-4/6-5, he has a good frame with nice length. Good positional size. Offensively, Anthony has good touch with a solid base in his jump shot. He is comfortable off the bounce or the catch. He is starting to show comfort as a go-to type scorer. Anthony plays confidently. He will need to continue developing the handle. This will also help his efficiency and help in learning (and getting to) his spots on the floor. Taking a less is more offensive approach will help his overall threat as a scorer. He has solid defensive anticipation off the ball. Will need to continue adding strength. The range is deep and he has an array of off-balance or step-back type moves to get a clean look. Anthony is already producing big numbers and he still has some ceiling to continue growing into as a player."
