The current transfer portal window in men's hoops officially opened on March 24 and will run through April 22. Various recent reports indicate that 'Cuse coaches have reached out to several other college transfers, beyond Eaglestaff.
Syracuse basketball has made contact with a high-scoring transfer guard.
In 2024-25, as a junior for Summit League member North Dakota (12-21 overall), Eaglestaff averaged 18.9 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists per contest, according to ESPN statistics. He made 41.6 percent from the field, 35.9 percent from beyond the arc and 79.4 percent from the free-throw line.
This past stanza, Eaglestaff was selected to the All-Summit League second team. In national transfer rankings from 247Sports, on Tuesday, Eaglestaff arrived as four stars, No. 16 overall and No. 5 at shooting guard.
As a member of the 2022 prep cycle, Eaglestaff was a standout at Bismarck High School. Per his bio on the North Dakota athletics department Web site, following the 2021-22 term at Bismarck High School, Eaglestaff was named Mr. Basketball in North Dakota.
So far during the current transfer portal window, I'm aware of at least two other college transfers who have heard from Syracuse basketball, according to reports. They are North Dakota State senior guard Jacari White and Drexel junior guard Kobe Magee.
The Orange's 2024-25 roster included 12 scholarship players, five of whom exhausted their college eligibility. Of the remaining seven players with eligibility left, at least four have announced plans to enter the transfer portal.
They are redshirt sophomore guard/wing Chance Westry, redshirt junior guard Kyle Cuffe Jr., junior small forward Chris Bell and freshman guard Elijah Moore.
At the high school level, Syracuse basketball's highly ranked 2025 class consists of four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony, four-star forward Sadiq White Jr., four-star combo guard Luke Fennell and three-star wing Aaron Womack.
