As the off-season gets underway for Syracuse basketball coaches, a report has come out that the Orange has shown some level of interest in a talented guard who shoots quite well from long range.

Per a post on X from the account The Portal Report, Drexel transfer guard Kobe Magee, a junior, has received interest from a variety of college programs, including the Orange, Maryland, Kansas, Texas, Xavier, Wake Forest, Seton Hall and Clemson.

That's an impressive list of potential college suitors for Magee, as several of them qualified for this spring's NCAA Tournament.

Magee, who hails from Allentown, Pa., had a strong junior season during the 2024-25 campaign for Coastal Athletic Association member Drexel, which sported an overall mark of 18-15.

Syracuse basketball has displayed an interest in Drexel transfer guard Kobe Magee.

In 2024-25, per ESPN statistics, Magee appeared in all 33 games. He averaged 33.7 minutes, 14.0 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steals per encounter while making 47.2 percent from the field, 43.9 percent from 3-point land, and 75.4 percent from the free-throw line.

This past term, Magee led Drexel in points per game, and he was named to the All-CAA third team, according to the Dragons' athletics department Web site.

Before heading to college, the 6-foot-6, 205-pound Magee was a standout at the Executive Education Academy in Allentown. Per Drexel's Web site, while at the Executive Education Academy, Magee "was a First Team All-Morning Call and All-Area selection…named Second Team All-Pennsylvania after leading his team to the district title for the fourth time."

The transfer portal window for men's basketball this off-season will officially run from March 24 to April 22. In 2024-25, the Orange had 12 scholarship players, five of whom have exhausted their college eligibility.

On Friday, word broke that 'Cuse redshirt junior guard Kyle Cuffe Jr. will enter the transfer portal. Let's see if other Syracuse basketball 2024-25 players join Cuffe in the portal, along with what transfers from other schools are pursued by the Orange coaching staff.

The 'Cuse's highly ranked 2025 class at the prep level features four incoming freshmen, three of whom are rated four stars by recruiting services.

Magee is an intriguing prospect. At his size and length, I assume he can play the guard positions and small forward out on the wing. His excellent 3-point shooting is also appealing. As a collective unit, in 2024-25, Syracuse basketball hit just 32.8 percent from deep.
