Quinn Costello, one of the hottest prospects around the country in the 2026 class, has his final half-dozen contenders. Syracuse basketball is not one of them.

This news doesn't surprise me. While the Orange had offered the 6-foot-10 Costello in June and watched him on the AAU circuit this summer, the 'Cuse staff was not heavily involved in his recruitment, I've been told.

The four-star wing/power forward has a top six of Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina, Purdue, and Texas, according to articles from On3/Rivals national reporter Joe Tipton and others.

While this is a bummer, I'm certainly wishing Quinn all the best moving forward. He has a bright future ahead at the collegiate level.

Syracuse basketball is out of the running for 4-star Quinn Costello.

Costello has taken unofficial visits to Michigan and Michigan State. In the coming months, he's expected to officially visit some or all of the schools in his final six. The chatter is that Michigan has some buzz for Costello these days, but we'll have to see how his visit calendar plays out.

In the upcoming 2025-26 season, Costello will be a rising senior at The Newman School in Boston. This spring and summer, analysts and scouts raved about Costello's play for the 17U team of the Boston-based Middlesex Magic in the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league.

Last month, Costello was a key contributor as the Middlesex Magic claimed 3rd place in the UAA's season-ending playoffs. In recent months, he also caught the attention of recruiting experts and college coaches for his performances at the Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas, where he was named co-MVP, and the National Basketball Players Association ("NBPA") Top 100 camp in Rock Hill, S.C., a showcase where the 'Cuse staff was in attendance.

When Rivals recently updated its 2026 national rankings, Costello soared into the top 30 overall, at No. 28. He's also the No. 5 power forward, according to Rivals.

While the Orange isn't a player for Costello, within the 2026 class, keep an eye on several other wings/forwards. They include four-star Vaughn Karvala, four-star Ralph Scott, who was offered by the 'Cuse a few days ago, five-star Alex Constanza, four-star Maximo Adams, four-star Asher Elson and four-star MJ Madison.
