Syracuse basketball is among the schools recruiting 2027 four-star wing Markus Kerr the hardest these days. While an official scholarship offer hasn't yet been made, Inside the Loud House believes that the 6-foot-7, 185-pound Kerr, who is from Charlotte, N.C., is likely to land an offer from the new Orange staff under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara.

Other college programs to monitor in Kerr's recruitment include Baylor, Cincinnati, Florida State, Tennessee and Xavier, among others. Kerr spent this past season at the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H.

In recent days, Kerr has been playing for the 17U team of the Raleigh, N.C.-based Garner Road in the Adidas 3SSB league's season-ending playoffs in Rock Hill, S.C. On Saturday, Garner Road faced the New York City-based New Heights in the quarterfinal round of the Adidas 3SSB tournament. Kerr and Garner Road fell to New Heights by a final score of 78-59.

Syracuse basketball is in pursuit of 2027 four-star wing Markus Kerr.

Within his class, Kerr is a top-75 national prospect, according to both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated Rivals Industry Ranking.

In the 2025-26 campaign, Kerr helped guide Brewster to a 30-6 overall record, and the team was ranked in the top 20 around the country by ESPN. Per MaxPreps, in 2025-26, Kerr averaged 29.2 minutes, 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.8 steals per contest while connecting on 54 percent from the field, 35 percent from beyond the arc and 77 percent from the free-throw line.

McNamara and his assistants, in recent months, have offered numerous 2027 prospects while evaluating others, such as Kerr. There is starting to be a bit more clarity around which high school seniors have emerged as priority recruits for SU in this cycle.

Three 2027 players have set upcoming official visits to Syracuse basketball. They are four-star power forward Ian Condon (September 1 to September 2), four-star point guard J'Lon Lyons (September 11 to September 13) and five-star wing/forward Ahmed Nur (August 28 to August 30).

Inside the Loud House has been told by a source in recent days that we should expect more official visits to the Orange program, too.
