Legendary high school basketball coach Kevin Boyle is putting together a loaded squad at his new program, the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio.

Spire's 2025-26 roster includes several Syracuse basketball recruiting connections. Not too long ago, 2027 five-star point guard and top-five national prospect King Gibson from Greensboro, N.C., said via his X page that he was transferring to Spire for his junior season during the 2025-26 campaign, where he will team up with Orange 2026 target Alex Constanza.

Spire's new head coach is Boyle, who most recently won multiple national titles while leading the powerhouse Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla. Gibson, in 2024-25, suited up for Montverde.

According to a post on X, Gibson said to ESPN recruiting director and top national analyst Paul Biancardi, "I reflected on things from last year. I feel like I can keep growing and I feel comfortable with Coach Boyle. He coached me hard last year, which was good. My parents loved that. They want me to reach my full potential."

Syracuse basketball is showing an interest in 2027 five-star point guard King Gibson.

On June 15, the contact period opened for 2027 prospects, enabling college coaches to initiate direct communication with rising high school juniors. Since that time, the 6-foot-6 Gibson has heard from numerous schools, including the 'Cuse.

According to recruiting services, Gibson's scholarship offer sheet includes teams such as Alabama, Florida State, Georgetown, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Missouri, N.C. State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Penn State, Providence, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, among others. Duke and Kentucky, among others, are displaying an interest in him.

When I penned this column, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rated Gibson as five stars and No. 14 overall. On3, meanwhile, has him as the No. 4 national prospect and the No. 1 point guard in the 2027 class.

This spring and summer, Gibson is playing at a high level on the AAU circuit for the 16U squad of the Charlotte, N.C.-based Team United in Nike's EYBL league. Per the EYBL Web site, Gibson is averaging 17.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.4 blocks per game while making 47.1 percent from the field, 55.0 percent from beyond the arc and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line.

At Spire in 2025-26, Gibson will pair up with Constanza, a 2026 five-star guard/small forward who holds a 'Cuse offer and officially visited Syracuse basketball last October. His dad has told me that Constanza may visit the Orange again.

The 6-foot-8 Constanza, a guard/small forward, revealed his move to Spire last month. He was previously an All-American at the Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. As I discussed in another recent column, in the upcoming stanza, Spire will play in the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League Scholastic ("EYBL Scholastic"), which is arguably the top high school hoops conference.

In the EYBL Scholastic, Gibson and Constanza will battle various other Syracuse basketball targets, such as 2026 four-star power forward MJ Madison, 2026 five-star point guard Dylan Mingo and 2027 five-star wing/forward Moussa Kamissoko of Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y.; 2026 four-star small forward Vaughn Karvala and 2027 five-star big man Paul Osaruyi of CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix; and 2026 four-star combo guard Katrelle Harmon of the Wasatch Academy in Mount Pleasant, Utah.
