As the various shoe-sponsored AAU circuits held sessions last weekend amid a live period with college coaches in attendance, Syracuse basketball 2026 target Neiko Mundey was sensational, analysts and scouts say.
The 6-foot-3 Mundey suits up for the 17U team of the Washington, D.C. area-based New World in the Adidas 3SSB league. This past weekend, this league held a session in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and I was told the Orange coaching staff was there to check out some recruiting targets.
Mundey, a four-star point guard and a top-60 national prospect in his class, helped guide New World to a perfect 4-0 record. He averaged an impressive 21.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 steals per contest.
For those efforts, the experts at The Circuit honored Mundey as their overall MVP for this session in Iowa. He was also named to the All-3SSB first team and the All-Defensive squad.
Two other 2026 players who hold Syracuse basketball scholarship offers were lauded by The Circuit. They are five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr. of the New York-based New Heights (All-3SSB second team) and five-star wing Abdou Toure of the Boston-based BABC (All-3SSB first team and All-Defensive squad).
Syracuse basketball remains in pursuit of 2026 four-star point guard Neiko Mundey.
Mundey is a standout at the Prince Georgeβs Christian Academy in Landover, Md., which was previously known as the Shabach Christian Academy. As a junior in the 2024-25 season, he put up some big-time performances. In the fall of last year, the Orange staff visited Mundey amid the fall recruiting period.
Syracuse basketball offered a scholarship to Mundey around the time that he unofficially visited the Hill to compete in the Orange's annual Elite Camp in late August of 2023. Per his X page and recruiting services, his full offer sheet includes schools such as Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, Villanova, West Virginia, Wake Forest, George Washington, Florida State, Towson, East Carolina, Old Dominion, Illinois, Louisville, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, among others.
Currently, his highest 2026 rankings come via 247Sports, which has Mundey at No. 55 overall, No. 8 at point guard and No. 2 in Maryland. At the time of this writing, both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking placed Mundey in the top 75 nationally, No. 10 at point guard and No. 2 in Maryland.
According to its Web site, the 3SSB league will conduct two more sessions. One is from July 9 to July 13 in Rock Hill, S.C., and the second one is from July 17 to July 20 in Ladera Ranch, Calif.
