Syracuse Basketball: 4-star Kiyan Anthony in top 30, Sadiq White's ranking seems low
By Neil Adler
As the high school basketball season is upon us, recruiting service and media outlet On3 has updated its national rankings of the top-150 prospects in the 2025 class, and we're looking here at where players with Syracuse basketball ties reside in this refresh.
To date, the Orange has verbal commitments from a trio of 2025 prospects, in five-star forward Sadiq White Jr. from Charlotte, N.C., three-star wing Aaron Womack from the Milwaukee area, and three-star combo guard Luke Fennell from Melbourne, Australia.
Additionally, 'Cuse coaches remain in pursuit of several other high school seniors, most notably, four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony from New York City, who has Syracuse basketball in his final three and will make his commitment announcement on November 15.
Where Syracuse basketball recruits are placed in new 2025 rankings from On3.
Sadiq White Jr.
White is spending his senior year at the powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. Both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and ESPN have him as five stars, with ESPN rating him at No. 15 nationwide in this class.
On3, though, ranks White as four stars, No. 48 overall, No. 13 at power forward and No. 10 in Florida. I mean no disrespect to On3, but I'm adamant that he should be higher than No. 48 nationally in the 2025 cycle.
Aaron Womack
Womack, praised by national analysts and scouts as a top-flight shooter, attends Dominican High School in Whitefish Bay, Wis. On3 doesn't have Womack in its national top 150, but it does place him as three stars, the No. 30 small forward and the No. 7 prospect coming out of Wisconsin. Both the 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, at the time of this writing, had Womack inside the top 275 overall of this class.
Luke Fennell
In the 2024-25 campaign, he is playing for the South East Melbourne Phoenix, which is a member of the National Basketball League ("NBL"), a professional league with teams in Australia and New Zealand. Experts hail Fennell as a guard who has terrific size, a stellar basketball IQ, and can efficiently score at all three levels. On3, in its update, rated him as three stars and the No. 27 point guard in this cycle.
Kiyan Anthony
A senior at the juggernaut Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., Anthony has a final three of Syracuse basketball, Southern California and Auburn. Ahead of his college decision, the Orange is receiving some analyst buzz in Anthony's recruitment. On3 currently rates him as four stars, No. 30 nationwide, No. 9 at shooting guard and No. 1 in New York.
Asher Elson
Elson is a fast-rising big man who is competing in 2024-25 in the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite ("OTE"). He picked up a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse in mid-April of this year, and Elson recently told On3 national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw that he may take a visit to Syracuse basketball soon.
On3, in its refresh, put Elson as four stars, No. 97 overall, No. 24 at power forward and No. 12 in Georgia within the 2025 class.
