According to his X page, Nunzio Campanile will serve as the quarterbacks coach of Syracuse football, which is awesome news to me.

Recent media reports had indicated that Campanile would remain on the staff of new head coach Fran Brown, who most recently was the defensive backs coach at Georgia.

Campanile, at present, is the interim head coach and tight ends coach for the ‘Cuse, and he is expected to the lead the Orange (6-6, 2-6 in the ACC) when it plays American Athletic Conference member South Florida (6-6) on Thursday, Dec. 21, at the 2023 Boca Raton Bowl in Boca Raton, Fla.

Campanile joined Syracuse football in January of 2023 after spending five years at Big Ten Conference school Rutgers. Much like Brown and new defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson, Campanile has strong recruiting ties in New Jersey.

Other Syracuse football coaches will remain on the staff of new boss Fran Brown.

Per a report from SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, ‘Cuse wide receivers coach Michael Johnson will take over as the team’s tight ends end.

Johnson came on board with the Orange in 2022, and he’s held coaching positions with numerous college and NFL squads, including Florida Atlantic, Mississippi State, Oregon, UCLA and Oregon State. In the pro ranks, he has worked for the San Francisco 49ers, the Baltimore Ravens, the Atlanta Falcons and the San Diego (now the Los Angeles) Chargers.

Additionally, according to McAllister, Syracuse football special teams coordinator Bob Ligashesky will remain in that role moving forward.

Ligashesky has roughly 40 years of coaching experience, including 12 seasons in the NFL, and he he claimed a Super Bowl as the Pittsburgh Steelers’ special teams coordinator back in 2008.

At the college level, Ligashesky has held coaching positions at Bowling Green, Illinois, Pittsburgh and Kent State, along with graduate-assistant stints at both Arizona State and Wake Forest.

Per reports, social media posts and official announcements from SU Athletics, other members of the new Syracuse football coaching staff will be:

•New England Patriots wide receivers coach Ross Douglas as the Orange’s wide receivers coach.

•Texas A&M interim head coach and co-defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson as the ‘Cuse defensive coordinator.

•Colorado defensive line coach Nick Williams as SU’s defensive ends coach.

•Delaware State wide receivers coach Devin Redd as an assistant wide receivers coach at Syracuse football.

•New York Giants running backs coach Jeff Nixon as the ‘Cuse offensive coordinator.

•Buffalo (the college team) defensive coordinator Robert Wright as the Orange’s linebackers coach.

•Louisville quality control specialist Dale Williams as SU’s offensive line coach.

Brown still has several coaching roles to fill, but this is shaping up as quite an impressive Syracuse football staff.
