Syracuse football will welcome several recruiting targets on official visits this weekend, including a talented lineman from Philadelphia.
Per SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, 2024 three-star lineman Deshon Dodson is expected to be among those high school prospects making trips to the Hill this weekend.
Dodson says on his X page that he is 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds. He also says that he plays both defensive tackle and offensive guard.
Dodson is a senior at Neumann-Goretti High School in Philadelphia. Multiple Syracuse football coaches, including head coach Fran Brown, hail from New Jersey, not far from Philadelphia, which is a prime recruiting market for the new ‘Cuse coaching staff.
Syracuse football is hosting 2024 lineman Deshon Dodson on an official visit.
Per his X page, Dodson received a scholarship offer from the Orange in January of 2022. Throughout his recruiting process, he has landed more than 15 offers from a range of high-major programs.
Per recruiting Web sites, his offer sheet also includes schools such as Boston College, Miami, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Penn State, Rutgers, Temple, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Wisconsin, UConn, Maryland and Pittsburgh, among others.
Within the 2024 cycle, Dodson is rated three stars by all of the primary recruiting services. ESPN places him as the No. 67 defensive end nationwide.
At the time of this writing, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranked Dodson at No. 708 nationally, No. 78 at defensive lineman and No. 17 in Pennsylvania.
Also expected to take official visits to the Hill this weekend are 2024 four-star cornerback Kevyn Humes and emerging 2024 defensive back/wide receiver Ibn McDaniels.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Humes, a top-150 national prospect, has the ‘Cuse in his final six, along with Penn State, Southern California, Notre Dame, Florida and Maryland.
He attends the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore and was “re-offered” by the new ‘Cuse coaching staff on December 4 of last year.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound McDaniels, who reportedly holds a scholarship offer from the Orange, is a standout senior at Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, N.J.
McDaniels was recently named to the New Jersey Football Coaches Association (“NJFCA”) North 2 Super 100 All-State team for his excellent 2023 season.
Brown and his staff, in a short period of time, have done a wonderful job with their 2024 recruiting class. At this juncture, the Syracuse football 2024 cycle includes commitments from 19 high school seniors and 11 college transfers.
