Jayden Shipps, a high three-star cornerback in the 2025 class from Maryland who has a Syracuse football scholarship offer, has trimmed his list of contenders to seven.

The Orange isn't in his top seven. Per a post from the X account Steezo, Shipps' seven finalists include Tennessee, Indiana, N.C. State, Maryland, Wisconsin, Virginia and South Carolina.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pound Shipps said on December 12, 2023, that he had received an offer from the new 'Cuse staff, led by ace recruiter and head coach Fran Brown.

In total, per recruiting services, Shipps has amassed around 20 high-major offers from schools such as Maryland, N.C. State, Virginia, Boston College, Indiana, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin, among others.

Syracuse football isn't in the top seven of 2025 three-star CB Jayden Shipps.

Shipps is a rising senior at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md. That's the same school attended by 2025 four-star quarterback Malik Washington.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Washington, re-offered by the new 'Cuse staff in mid-December of 2023, plans to take an official visit to Syracuse football during the weekend that begins on June 7.

Washington, rated as a top-200 national prospect and a top-15 quarterback in his class by several recruiting services, took an unofficial visit to the Hill for one of the Orange's junior days this past January.

A recent 247Sports article indicated that Washington, as he finishes up his official visits, is eyeing a possible commitment announcement in late June.

Getting back to Shipps, numerous recruiting Web sites rate him as a top-80 cornerback and a top-30 player coming out of Maryland in the 2025 cycle. He's also in the national rankings for this class, according to both the industry-generated 247Sports Composite and the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking.

To date, Brown and his assistants have done a strong job with their 2025 class, which includes at least 19 verbal commitments and hovers around the top 10 nationally.

Of these verbal pledges, several prospects suit up in the secondary, including three-star Javon Lawrence from New York state, three-star Amari Colon from the Empire State, three-star Ziyyon Bredell from Pennsylvania, and three-star Jordan Gibbs from New York state.

I'm wishing Jayden all the best moving forward in his recruiting process.
