One of the top running backs in the 2025 class plans to make a trip to Syracuse football later this year.

According to his bio on Rivals.com, four-star running back John Forster from New Jersey will officially visit the ‘Cuse on June 7. Rivals.com says that the 6-foot, 190-pound Forster will also officially visit Rutgers on May 31.

He’s rated inside the top 150 nationally by Rivals.com, while other recruiting services also rank Forster as a top-30 running back and a top-10 prospect out of New Jersey within the junior cycle.

According to his X page, Forster has received nearly 20 scholarship offers from a range of high-major programs. His first offer came from the Orange, back in November of 2021, when Dino Babers was still at the helm of the program.

In early December of last year, former Georgia defensive backs coach Fran Brown was officially introduced by SU Athletics as the Syracuse football head coach. Recently, 247Sports named Brown the country’s No. 1 national recruiter for the 2024 class.

Syracuse football will host 4-star RB John Forster on an official visit in June.

Per his X account, Forster’s full offer sheet also includes college squads such as Liberty, Buffalo, UConn, James Madison, Charlotte, Illinois, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Minnesota, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Duke, Pittsburgh, Nebraska, Penn State, Maryland, Boston College and Rutgers.

On Sunday, I didn’t see any analyst predictions in Forster’s recruitment on the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com or the On3 Web site. On3’s recruiting prediction machine, when I wrote this article, had Penn State in the lead for Forster, but that could change as he takes official visits.

Forster is a standout junior at the Saint Joseph Regional High School in Montvale, N.J. You can check out some of his statistics during the 2023 season via the MaxPreps Web site.

By the way, 2024 four-star running back Yasin Willis, who is officially signed with Syracuse football in the team’s senior class at the high school level, also competed for the Saint Joseph Regional High School this past term to form a dynamic RB duo for the Green Knights.

Forster’s highest 2025 rankings, for now, come from Rivals.com, which places him at No. 134 nationally, the No. 2 all-purpose back and No. 5 in New Jersey.

On Sunday, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite ranked him at No. 303 overall, No. 26 at running back and No. 9 in New Jersey.

The industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, meanwhile, put Forster at No. 328 nationwide, No. 26 at running back and No. 11 in New Jersey.

As I’ve noted on many occasions, since becoming the Orange’s head coach, Brown and his newly assembled staff have recruited New Jersey hard, along with the rest of the Northeast corridor.
