Syracuse football on Saturday night picked up a commitment from a second Georgia wide receiver transfer, as four-star Yazeed Haynes said on his X page that he was pledging to the Orange.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Haynes, a freshman with the Bulldogs, was one of numerous highly rated prospects on official visits to the ‘Cuse this weekend.
As I noted in another column earlier on Saturday, two national analysts had logged predictions in the Orange’s direction for Haynes on the 247Sports Web site, and those projections rang true.
First and foremost, a huge congratulations and welcome from ‘Cuse Nation to Yazeed Haynes, who entered the NCAA’s transfer portal on December 12.
In national transfer rankings, Rivals.com has him as four stars and No. 66 across the country. Over at 247Sports, in its national transfer ratings, Haynes checked in as three stars, No. 110 overall and No. 24 at wide receiver.
Syracuse football has landed a commitment from 4-star Georgia WR transfer Yazeed Haynes.
In his freshman season with Georgia, Haynes hauled in one pass for 20 yards. Per media reports, he redshirted in the 2023 campaign and is expected to have four years of collegiate eligibility left.
As we’ve documented on many occasions lately, new Orange head coach Fran Brown was most recently the defensive backs coach at the Bulldogs.
Prior to joining Georgia, Haynes was a member of the 2023 class who attended North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pa. Haynes hails from Philadelphia.
Brown and new Syracuse football defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson, who are long-time friends, both grew up in Camden, N.J., which is nearby to Philadelphia as well as Lansdale.
In the 2023 cycle, Haynes was ranked four stars and in the top-250 nationwide by several recruiting services. On3, within this recruiting class, had him at No. 109 nationally, No. 18 at wide receiver and No. 2 in Pennsylvania.
On December 12, Jackson Meeks, a junior wide receiver at Georgia, said he would transfer to the Orange as well. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Meeks, in the 2021 class, was a three-star prospect who went to Central High School in Phenix City, Ala.
In national transfer rankings from 247Sports, Meeks is three stars, No. 193 overall and No. 39 at wide receiver.
Brown and his staff are off to a strong start in securing commitments via the portal, and recruiting analysts say more ‘Cuse pledges could soon be on the way.
