Syracuse Football: ‘Cuse scores analyst predictions for 4-star, 3-star recruits who are visiting
By Neil Adler
Syracuse football is receiving analyst buzz for multiple recruiting targets, both college transfers and high school prospects, who are on the Hill this weekend visiting the Orange program.
The ‘Cuse coaching staff has roughly 20 recruits on the SU campus this weekend for official visits, and that includes 2024 verbal commits, high school recruits who are either un-committed or currently committed elsewhere, and college transfer targets.
When I wrote this article on Friday, analyst predictions had arrived in the Orange’s direction for three-star Buffalo transfer Devin Grant, three-star Georgia transfer Yazeed Haynes, four-star Texas A&M transfer Fadil Diggs, and 2024 three-star linebacker Fatim Diggs.
Syracuse football is trending for several recruiting targets, per analysts.
The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Grant is a sophomore safety at Buffalo who hails from Elmont, N.Y. According to 247Sports, he entered the NCAA’s transfer portal on December 11.
Per SyracuseOnSI publisher Mike McAllister, Grant does hold a scholarship offer from the ‘Cuse.
Steve Wiltfong, the director of recruiting for 247Sports, has logged a projection in the Orange’s direction for Grant. In national transfer rankings from 247Sports, he checks in at No. 115 overall and No. 11 at safety.
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Haynes is a freshman wide receiver at Georgia. He entered the transfer portal on December 12, according to 247Sports.
New ‘Cuse head coach Fran Brown, by the way, most recently served as the defensive backs coach with the Bulldogs. It’s unclear to me whether the Orange has offered Haynes.
Wiltfong and 247Sports national analyst Brian Dohn are both forecasting that Haynes will ultimately commit to Syracuse football.
In its national transfer rankings, 247Sports places Haynes as three stars, No. 109 nationally and No. 25 at wide receiver.
Fadil Diggs is a 6-foot-5, 260-pound junior defensive lineman at Texas A&M. Recent reports said that he was scheduled to visit Alabama on December 15 and then the ‘Cuse the next day.
While in high school, Diggs attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, N.J., which is now known as Eastside High School.
Brown and new Syracuse football defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson, who are long-time friends, grew up together in Camden. Additionally, Robinson is currently the interim head coach and co-defensive coordinator at Texas A&M.
Wiltfong has made a projection in the Orange’s favor for Diggs, and the ‘Cuse is receiving buzz in his recruitment on the On3 Web site.
I’m not sure whether Syracuse football has formally offered Diggs yet. According to national transfer rankings from 247Sports, he is four stars, No. 31 nationally and No. 6 at edge.
Diggs’ younger brother is Fatim Diggs, who is a senior at Eastside High School in Camden. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Diggs, a three-star linebacker, was offered a scholarship by the Orange in May of 2022.
In April of this year, Diggs said on social media that his top five at that time consisted of Syracuse football, Maryland, West Virginia, Ole Miss and Penn State.
Wiltfong and Brian Dohn have both predicted that Diggs will commit to the ‘Cuse. Syracuse football is also the heavy leader for Diggs, per the On3 recruiting prediction machine.
