Syracuse football has landed a commitment from one Georgia wide receiver transfer, and a second one plans to officially visit the Orange this weekend, according to a national analyst.
Per Adam Friedman of Rivals.com, Georgia freshman wide receiver Yazeed Haynes will take an official visit to the ‘Cuse this weekend, which is great to hear.
According to his bio on 247Sports, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Haynes entered the NCAA’s transfer portal on December 12.
In his freshman season with the Bulldogs, he caught one pass for 20 yards. Georgia, which had won the last two national titles, is 12-1 so far in the 2023 season, rated No. 6 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings and will battle Atlantic Coast Conference champion and No. 5 Florida State (13-0) on December 30 at the Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens, Fla.
New Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown, most recently, was the defensive backs coach at Georgia. Haynes is from Philadelphia, not far from where Brown and new ‘Cuse defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson hail from in Camden, N.J.
Syracuse football will host Georgia WR transfer Yazeed Haynes on an official visit.
Haynes played at North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pa. He was a consensus four-star prospect in the 2023 class, with several recruiting services ranking him as a top-250 overall player and a top-30 wide receiver in this cycle.
While in high school, On3 was most bullish on Haynes, placing him at No. 109 nationwide, No. 18 at wide receiver and No. 2 in Pennsylvania within the 2023 class.
Throughout his recruiting process, besides Georgia, Haynes held scholarship offers from college squads such as Boston College, Maryland, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Penn State, Rutgers and West Virginia, among others.
In national transfer rankings for the current cycle from 247Sports, Haynes was ranked as three stars, No. 103 overall and No. 25 at wide receiver when I wrote this story.
Earlier this week, Brown and his staff scored their first commitment via the portal, as junior wide receiver Jackson Meeks said he would transfer from Southeastern Conference powerhouse Georgia to the Orange.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Meeks, who will have one year of eligibility left, was a three-star prospect in the 2021 class who went to Central High School in Phenix City, Ala.
According to media reports and social media posts, Haynes is one of numerous college transfers and high school players who are expected to take official visits to Syracuse football this coming weekend.
