On Monday evening, I saw one analyst prediction in the Orange’s direction on Rivals.com for 2024 three-star lineman Deshon Dodson, who took an official visit to Syracuse football this past weekend.

Granted, one projection for the ‘Cuse doesn’t signify that the 6-foot-3, 270-pound Dodson is ultimately going to commit to the Orange. However, it’s an encouraging sign nonetheless.

Dodson, who says on his X page that he plays defensive tackle and offensive guard, is a senior at Neumann-Goretti High School in Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia market is undeniably a recruiting focus for the ‘Cuse staff, as numerous Syracuse football coaches, including head coach Fran Brown, hail from nearby New Jersey.

Syracuse football has a little analyst buzz for lineman Deshon Dodson.

The Orange offered a scholarship to Dodson in January of 2022, according to his X page.

According to recruiting Web sites, he has more than 15 offers from a range of high-major programs, including Boston College, Miami, Nebraska, Ole Miss, Penn State, Rutgers, Temple, Texas A&M, West Virginia, Wisconsin, UConn, Maryland and Pittsburgh, among others.

All the main recruiting services rate Dodson as three stars. ESPN rates him as the No. 67 defensive end around the country. On Monday night, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite placed him at No. 708 overall, No. 78 at defensive lineman and No. 17 in Pennsylvania within the 2024 cycle.

Last weekend, Dodson was one of several 2024 prospects who officially visited the Syracuse football program. Others were four-star cornerback Kevyn Humes and fast-rising defensive back/wide receiver Ibn McDaniels.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Humes, a top-150 national prospect out of the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, has the Orange in his final six.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound McDaniels, an All-State performer who attends Elizabeth High School in Elizabeth, N.J., committed to the ‘Cuse this past Saturday evening.

Earlier on Monday, Syracuse football got a pledge from Alabama defensive lineman transfer Isaiah Hastings, who was briefly committed to Missouri but had reopened his recruitment and then committed to the Orange.

The 6-foot-4, 290-pound Hastings, who has three years of collegiate eligibility remaining, is a three-star, top-250 overall prospect in national transfer rankings.

In the 2022 cycle coming out of the Clearwater Academy International in Clearwater, Fla., Hastings was ranked as high as No. 53 nationally by On3.

To date in its excellent 2024 class, the ‘Cuse has received commitments from 20 high school seniors and 12 college transfers. Let’s see if Dodson might prove another Syracuse football pledge in the future.
