Syracuse football coaches continue to hit the recruiting trail hard in the Sunshine State.

One of the latest examples surrounds 2025 four-star wide receiver Carl Jenkins Jr., who had an excellent junior season at St. Augustine High School in St. Augustine, Fla.

Not too long ago, Rivals.com national analyst Brandon Howard said in a post on X that the 6-foot-3, 180-pound Jenkins plans to take a visit to the Orange on April 13, which is great news.

Jenkins is a highly sought-after player in the junior cycle, as he has collected nearly 30 scholarship offers throughout his recruitment, according to his bio on Rivals.com.

On January 10 of this year, Jenkins said that he had received an offer from the new Syracuse football coaching staff, which is led by ‘Cuse head coach and ace recruiter Fran Brown.

Four-star wide receiver Carl Jenkins Jr. will soon visit Syracuse football.

Per Rivals.com, Jenkins’ full offer sheet includes college squads such as Arkansas, Connecticut, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Louisville, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Texas A&M, UCF, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin, among numerous others.

In the most recent 2023 season for St. Augustine High School, Jenkins said in a post on X that he caught 62 passes for 1,273 receiving yards, while scoring 16 touchdowns.

He is rated a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports. Rivals.com, though, ranks Jenkins as four stars, the No. 60 wide receiver and the No. 68 player in Florida within the 2025 class.

In early February, Rivals.com national analyst John Garcia Jr. wrote a piece where he discussed Jenkins. Garcia, at that time, said that suitors high on Jenkins’ list early on include the Orange, Mississippi State and Arkansas, “but each could potentially be looking up to Florida State if the Seminoles eventually come calling. … Jenkins is all but expecting it at some point, but after a 16-touchdown 2023, more opportunities are expected to continue to come in.”

Brown and several of his assistants hail from New Jersey. Since he officially took over the program in early December of last year, Brown and his staff have recruited the Garden State and the rest of the Northeast corridor hard, but they’re also focused on other states, including Ohio and Florida, among others.

If we’re talking about the Sunshine State, Syracuse football will welcome numerous Florida products to the Hill on visits in the coming weeks.

They include 2025 five-star wide receiver Winston Watkins Jr. of First Baptist Academy in Naples, Fla., 2026 four-star running back Javian Mallory of West Boca Raton Community High School in Boca Raton, Fla., 2025 three-star wide receiver Tyler Williams of Sumner High School in Riverview, Fla., and 2025 three-star edge Romando Johnson of Monarch High School in Coconut Creek, Fla.

Additionally, a few days ago, 2025 four-star wide receiver and return man Vernell Brown III of Jones High School in Orlando, Fla., took a visit to the ‘Cuse, according to 247Sports director of recruiting Steve Wiltfong.
