Syracuse Football: 4-star running back, a top-100 national prospect, to visit ‘Cuse
By Neil Adler
One of the top running backs in the 2026 class plans to visit Syracuse football soon.
According to a piece from Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney, four-star sophomore Javian Mallory will take a visit to the Orange “next month.”
I haven’t seen a specific date yet for his visit to the ‘Cuse, so I’ll continue to monitor. Either way, it’s highly encouraging that the 6-foot, 200-pound Mallory will be heading to the Hill in April.
Mallory is a standout sophomore at West Boca Raton Community High School in Boca Raton, Fla. He had a huge 2023 season, which I’ll detail below.
Syracuse football will get a visit from 2026 four-star RB Javian Mallory.
Per Gorney, other suitors heavily in the mix for Mallory besides the Orange include Miami, Florida State, UCF, Tennessee, Ohio State and Florida. The Rivals.com analyst wrote that regarding fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Miami, Mallory “has plenty of relationships on that team so the Hurricanes will be one to watch.”
On February 16 of this year, Mallory said that he was re-offered a scholarship by the new ‘Cuse coaching staff, which is led by head coach and ace recruiter Fran Brown.
According to recruiting services, throughout his recruiting process to date, Mallory has picked up more than 20 offers from schools such as Kentucky, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Indiana, Louisville, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, UCF, Southern California, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Mississippi State and Nebraska, among others.
As a freshman, Mallory tallied more than 700 all-purpose yards and 10 touchdowns, earning a spot on the MaxPreps 2022 freshman All-America second team.
In his sophomore term, during the 2023 season for West Boca Raton Community High School, MaxPreps says that Mallory rushed for 1,415 yards and scored 18 touchdowns on the ground. As a receiver, he hauled in 438 yards and six more scores.
That comes out to 1,853 all-purpose yards and 24 touchdowns, which is mighty impressive. For those sophomore-year efforts, Mallory secured numerous awards and honors, including the Rising Stars sophomore player of the year in South Florida, the Sun Sentinel’s Palm Beach offensive player of the year, and Palm Beach County player of the year.
Currently, within the 2026 class, Rivals.com rates Mallory as four stars and No. 88 around the country in this cycle.
As I noted in another recent column, 2026 prospect Shahn Alston, one of the top running backs in Ohio, plans to take a spring visit to Syracuse football on April 19.
The 5-foot-10, 205-pound Alston, as a sophomore, rushed for 1,041 yards and scored 17 rushing touchdowns in the 2023 season for Thomas W. Harvey High School in Painesville, Ohio.
