A day after his young brother verbally committed to Syracuse football, Texas A&M defensive lineman Fadil Diggs said on his X page that he would transfer to the Orange.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Diggs, one of the top national prospects and an elite edge in the current transfer-portal cycle, was one of numerous players on the Hill this past weekend taking an official visit to Syracuse football.

Ahead of that trip to Central New York, the ‘Cuse was receiving some analyst buzz for Diggs on recruiting Web sites, so his pledge to the Orange isn’t a huge surprise. That being said, Diggs also took a visit to Alabama last weekend.

In any event, a heartfelt congratulations and a big-time welcome from ‘Cuse Nation to Fadil Diggs, as Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and his staff continue to pile up impressive wins via both the transfer portal and in high school recruiting.

Syracuse football has landed a top-40 national transfer in Fadil Diggs.

Diggs entered the NCAA’s transfer portal on December 6, according to 247Sports. Texas A&M has a new head coach in former Duke boss Mike Elko, who has replaced Jimbo Fisher at the helm of the Aggies.

Additionally, Texas A&M interim head coach and co-defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson will, in the near future, take on his new role as the Orange’s defensive coordinator.

A junior, Diggs is expected to have one year of collegiate eligibility remaining. Per ESPN statistics, in the 2023 campaign for Texas A&M, Diggs tallied 36 total tackles, 22 solo tackles, four sacks and two passes defended.

When I wrote this article on Tuesday night, 247Sports rated Diggs as four stars, No. 35 overall and No. 6 at edge in its national transfer rankings.

In their national transfer rankings, Rivals.com placed Diggs as four stars and No. 62 nationally, while the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking had him as four stars and No. 38 nationwide.

Diggs, as a member of the 2020 cycle, was rated as four stars and inside the top 200 overall by several recruiting services. The 2019 New Jersey Gatorade Player of the Year, Diggs attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, N.J., which is now known as Eastside High School.

As we’ve documented on many occasions, Brown and Robinson, who are long-time friends, grew up together in Camden and have strong recruiting connections in New Jersey and throughout the Northeast corridor.

On Monday, Diggs’ younger brother, 2024 three-star linebacker Fatim Diggs, verbally committed to Syracuse football. The early signing period for players in the senior class is set to begin on Wednesday, Dec. 20.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Fatim Diggs, who had been offered by the ‘Cuse in May of 2022, was also on the SU campus this past weekend on a visit. He is a senior at Eastside High School.

At this juncture, if we’re talking about college transfers who have pledged to the Orange, they include Fadil Diggs, Buffalo sophomore safety Devin Grant, West Virginia freshman linebacker James Heard Jr., Ohio State junior quarterback Kyle McCord, Georgia freshman wide receiver Yazeed Haynes and Georgia junior wide receiver Jackson Meeks.
