Syracuse football on Monday picked up a verbal commitment from 2024 three-star linebacker Fatim Diggs, who hails from the same hometown in New Jersey as two Orange coaches.

First and foremost, a huge congratulations and welcome from ‘Cuse Nation to Diggs. By the way, the early signing period for prospects in the senior class is set to arrive this Wednesday, Dec. 20.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Diggs, in May of 2022, received a scholarship from the ‘Cuse coaching staff. He was one of roughly 20 players on the SU campus this past weekend taking official visits to Syracuse football, and that included college transfer targets, 2024 verbal commits and 2024 high school recruits.

Prior to his official visit to the Orange last weekend, the ‘Cuse was receiving some analyst buzz on the 247Sports Web site in Diggs’ recruitment.

Syracuse football has scored a commitment from 2024 three-star linebacker Fatim Diggs.

In April, Diggs disclosed a top five of the Orange, Maryland, West Virginia, Ole Miss and Penn State.

His full offer sheet, according to recruiting services, has included Boston College, Virginia, West Virginia, Ole Miss, Penn State, Maryland, Temple, Virginia Tech and Charlotte, among others.

Diggs is a standout senior at Eastside High School in Camden, N.J. New Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown and new ‘Cuse defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson, who are long-time friends, both grew up together in Camden.

Within the 2024 cycle, Diggs is rated as three stars by multiple recruiting Web sites. Candidly, I think that he’s underrated in this class.

When I wrote this article on Monday, 247Sports had Diggs as the No. 229 linebacker and the No. 51 prospect in New Jersey.

Over at the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, he was No. 197 at linebacker and No. 52 in New Jersey.

The industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, meanwhile, placed him as the No. 171 edge and the No. 51 player in New Jersey.

Diggs’ older brother, Fadil Diggs, also took an official visit to Central New York this past weekend.

The 6-foot-5, 260-pound Fadil Diggs is a junior defensive lineman at Texas A&M who is in the transfer portal. He also visited Alabama in recent days, according to media reports.

In national transfer rankings from 247Sports, Diggs arrived at No. 32 overall and No. 6 at edge on Monday. Syracuse football is receiving some buzz in his recruitment on the 247Sports Web site and the On3 Web site.

With the verbal pledge from Fatim Diggs, I’m counting at least 10 commitments for Syracuse football since Brown was formally introduced as the team’s head coach two weeks ago.

Those 2024 players who have verbally committed include Diggs, three-star edge Caden Brown, three-star defensive end/tight end Jahide Lesaine Jr., four-star running back Yasin Willis, three-star wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby and four-star wide receiver Emanuel Ross.

On the transfer front, the Orange has landed out of the portal three-star West Virginia freshman linebacker James Heard Jr., four-star Ohio State junior quarterback Kyle McCord, four-star Georgia freshman wide receiver Yazeed Haynes and three-star Georgia junior wide receiver Jackson Meeks.
