Syracuse football coaches will know in the coming days if they have added a second verbal commitment at the quarterback position within their 2025 class.

Both four-star Malik Washington from Maryland and three-star Cibastian Broughton from Florida are expected to make their commitment announcements this week, according to posts on their respective X pages.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Washington will reveal his college decision on Friday, June 28, while the 6-foot, 175-pound Broughton will unveil his future collegiate home on Wednesday, June 26.

Washington, a rising senior standout with Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md., was re-offered a scholarship by the new Orange staff on December 12 of 2023. Recently, he took an official visit to the 'Cuse from June 7 to June 9.

Broughton, a stellar signal-caller out of Fleming Island High School in Fleming Island, Fla., picked up his Syracuse football offer on June 16 of this year. He officially visited the Hill from June 14 to June 16.

Two Syracuse football 2025 quarterback recruits are set to announce their college plans.

According to a recent article from 247Sports national analyst Tom Loy, Washington's final four appear to be the Orange, Maryland, Penn State and UCF. Earlier this spring, Virginia Tech had some analyst buzz in Washington's recruitment on Rivals.com.

However, these days, Maryland out of the Big Ten Conference is receiving heavy buzz on recruiting Web sites leading up Washington's decision announcement on Friday. When I wrote this story on Tuesday, I counted a total of at least 11 predictions in the Terrapins' direction for him between the 247Sports Web site, Rivals.com and the On3 Web site.

Washington is an elite player in the 2025 cycle, with numerous recruiting services rating him as a top-300 national prospect and a top-20 quarterback. It would be totally understandable if he chooses to stay home and play for an in-state team, Maryland.

In early June, Broughton disclosed a top four of Syracuse football, Tulane, Akron and Arkansas State. At the time of this writing, I wasn't seeing any analyst projections for Broughton on the main recruiting Web sites, although On3's recruiting prediction machine did have the 'Cuse in the lead for him.

In late March, Syracuse football landed a verbal pledge from 2025 four-star quarterback Luke Carney, who stars for the Dallas Christian School in Mesquite, Texas. My assumption is that Orange coaches would like to secure at least two quarterbacks at the high school level within their 2025 class, which is currently ranked in the top 20 nationally.

Two other 2025 quarterbacks who have landed scholarship offers from the new Syracuse football staff this month are three-star Sebastian Circo of Western High School in Davie, Fla., and three-star Rich Belin of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx, N.Y., who took an official visit to the 'Cuse about two weeks ago.
