Syracuse basketball coaches have reached out to Hofstra junior guard/small forward Darlinstone Dubar, according to media reports.

The 6-foot-8 Dubar, who hails from Charlotte, N.C., is in the transfer portal. In national transfer ratings this cycle, he is ranked as four stars and in the top 20 overall, per several recruiting services.

The X account 24/7 High School Hoops was among those to note that the Orange has reached out to Dubar, along with other schools such as Kansas State, Arkansas, Virginia, Ole Miss, Arizona State, St. John's, Auburn, Notre Dame, Indiana, Tennessee, Kansas, Pittsburgh and Georgia Tech, among others.

The current transfer-portal window opened for business on Monday, March 18, and it will run for 45 days. Per reports, the 'Cuse coaching staff has contacted at least six college transfers, including Hofstra junior point guard Jaquan Carlos.

Since the portal opened, at least four players on the Orange 2023-24 roster have decided to transfer, and they are sophomore center Peter Carey, sophomore guard/wing Justin Taylor, sophomore guard/wing Quadir Copeland and junior forward Benny Williams, who was dismissed from the program in early February.

During the recently completed 2023-24 term, Hofstra from New York's Long Island went 20-13 overall and 12-6 in Coastal Athletic Association ("CAA") competition.

As a junior, according to ESPN data, Dubar appeared in all 33 games for Hofstra. He averaged 34.6 minutes, 17.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.2 steals per contest, while connecting on 53.9 percent from the field, 39.9 percent from beyond the arc, and 73.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Within the CAA, he was No. 6 in points per game, No. 10 in rebounds per affair and No. 1 in field-goal shooting percentage. For those efforts, Dubar was named to the All-CAA second team.

He began his collegiate career at Big 12 Conference member Iowa State, playing there one season, before transferring to Hofstra.

As a member of the 2020 recruiting cycle out of Scotland Campus in Scotland, Pa., Dubar was rated a three-star, top-150 national prospect.

When I wrote this article on Sunday, in national transfer rankings, Rivals.com had him as four stars and No. 8 overall. On3 placed Dubar as four stars and No. 20 nationally, while via 247Sports, he arrived as four stars, No. 40 nationwide and No. 7 at small forward.

Besides Dubar, those college transfers who have heard from Syracuse basketball coaches, per recruiting analysts, include Carlos, Minnesota sophomore forward Pharrel Payne, Milwaukee junior wing BJ Freeman, Mount St. Mary's senior guard Dakota Leffew and UNC Greensboro senior forward Mikeal Brown-Jones.
