Multiple Syracuse basketball recruiting targets, including Kiyan Anthony, will compete at a training camp later this month to potentially make the 12-player roster of the 2024 USA Basketball U17 national team.
According to a press release disclosed this week, 35 prospects across the 2025 and 2026 classes have been selected to participate at this U17 national team training camp that begins on June 15 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The announcement states that the 12-player roster of this U17 national team is expected to be revealed before the squad heads to the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place from June 29 to July 7 in Istanbul, Turkey.
Anthony and a couple of other 'Cuse recruits have been picked for this upcoming training camp, which is wonderful.
Syracuse basketball targets will vie for the USA Basketball U17 national team.
The 6-foot-5 Anthony, a 2025 four-star shooting guard out of Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., is a long-time Orange priority recruit in this class. He was offered by the 'Cuse staff in November of 2022 and took an official visit to the Hill last October.
Others who were selected for this training camp in Colorado include 2026 four-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr., 2026 five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. and 2026 four-star guard/wing Adam Oumiddoch.
Rippey, out of the Blair Academy in Blairstown, N.J., received an offer from the Orange in late August of last year. This past February, on Jim Boeheim Day, the 6-foot-2 Rippey took an unofficial visit to the 'Cuse, and he's interested in officially visiting the program at some point.
The 6-foot-3 Smith, who attends St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Va., picked up his 'Cuse offer in early May of 2023. He his scheduled to take an unofficial visit to Syracuse basketball on June 7.
The 6-foot-6 Oumiddoch spent his sophomore year in the 2023-24 campaign with the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite. Last summer, he told media outlet Pro Insight that the Orange was one of the college teams on his radar.
According to USA Basketball, the USA has claimed the gold medal at every one of the FIBA U17 World Cups, winning six straight gold medals and amassing an all-time record of 44-0.
Late last month, 2025 five-star forward Sadiq White Jr. and 2026 five-star guard/small forward Alex Constanza competed at a training camp in Colorado Springs for the 2024 USA Basketball U18 national team.
The 6-foot-8 White, out of Myers Park High School in Charlotte, N.C., verbally committed to the 'Cuse last week. The 6-foot-8 Constanza, with the Westminster Academy in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., was offered by Syracuse basketball this past January and is interested in visiting the program.
