Syracuse Basketball: Analyst predictions in Orange's direction for 4-star Kiyan Anthony
By Neil Adler
Syracuse basketball, lately, has started to pick up some analyst buzz on recruiting Web sites for 2025 four-star priority recruit Kiyan Anthony, the talented shooting guard from New York City.
Yes, please.
That being said, I'd caution that these sorts of prognostications often ring true but aren't always accurate. What's more, the 6-foot-5 Anthony has said in a couple of recent interviews that he is eyeing some upcoming visits later this summer, so things can certainly ebb and flow in his recruiting process.
When I wrote this article, I counted at least three analyst projections in the Orange's direction for Anthony between the On3 Web site and Rivals.com. One of those predictions is from On3 national reporter Joe Tipton, who is extremely well-connected in high school recruiting circles.
Syracuse basketball has some analyst buzz for 2025 four-star guard Kiyan Anthony.
In addition to those individual projections, at the time of this writing, On3's recruiting prediction machine had the 'Cuse heavily in the lead for Anthony, with Florida State at a distant second.
To date, the only schools that he has officially visited are Syracuse basketball and the Seminoles. Anthony took his official visit to the Hill in late October of last year. He was offered a scholarship by the Orange in November of 2022 and is a top recruiting target of the 'Cuse in the 2025 cycle.
Speaking of visits, a recent article from Charlie Parent on zagsblog.com states that Anthony is eyeing some trips after the summer. Those could include visiting Syracuse basketball and Florida State again, along with Arizona State, Indiana, Tennessee, and Auburn, should the Tigers end up offering him.
While it's encouraging that the Orange is receiving buzz for Anthony, analyst projections and the On3 recruiting prediction machine could shift as he takes more visits in the future.
What's more, as Anthony continues to soar on the AAU circuit, more high-major offers could come his way. Arizona State, for one, only recently offered him. Parent writes that Anthony could make a college decision in November or early December.
Without question, though, the 'Cuse is one of the favorites for Anthony, and the team is recruiting him hard. Last weekend, for example, Orange coaches were in attendance for several of his games during a live period in grassroots basketball.
So far this spring, the rising senior at the powerhouse Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., has proven one of hottest prospects on the AAU circuit, lighting up the scoreboard as a standout for the 17U squad of the Baltimore-based Team Melo in Nike’s EYBL league.
Currently, Anthony is rated as high as No. 29 nationally by On3. He's a top-10 shooting guard and the No. 1 player in New York state within his class, according to numerous recruiting services.
If he keeps playing at an ultra-high level on the EYBL circuit, and shines as a senior at Long Island Lutheran in the country's premier high school hoops conference, I could envision Kiyan making a run at five-star status in the 2025 cycle.
Even with the buzz that the 'Cuse appears to possess for Anthony, it's not a lock that he will eventually don a Syracuse basketball uniform. I posed that topic, a few days ago, to Rivals.com national analyst Rob Cassidy, and you can check out his response here.
