This past weekend, elite 2025 four-star point guard Tyler Jackson from Baltimore took his first official visit, and it was to Syracuse basketball.

The 6-foot-3 Jackson, one of the top guards nationwide in the junior class, was on hand last Saturday night, as the Orange defeated fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad N.C. State by 12 points and ‘Cuse legend Dave Bing was inducted into the SU Athletics Ring of Honor.

Jackson, who has said in numerous interviews in recent months that Syracuse basketball coaches are recruiting him hard, received a scholarship offer from the Orange in late April of last year.

In recently updated 2025 national rankings from ESPN, Jackson checked in at No. 21 around the country, and he’s only a few spots away from being a five-star prospect.

Beyond his official visit to the ‘Cuse, Jackson has taken unofficial visits to both Maryland and Auburn.

To date, he has tallied more than 20 scholarship offers from schools such as Auburn, Indiana, Villanova, LSU, Old Dominion, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, California, Kansas, Alabama, Maryland, Illinois, Rutgers, Seton Hall, DePaul, George Mason, Georgia Tech, Rhode Island, Houston, Penn State, UCF, Mississippi State, Arizona State and Wake Forest.

Syracuse basketball 2025 priority recruit Tyler Jackson is a top-25 overall player.

A recent post on X from On3 national analyst Joe Tipton says that the 12 suitors that Jackson is hearing from the most these days are the Orange, Maryland, Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, Penn State, Georgia Tech, LSU, UCF, Kansas, Indiana and Florida State.

While ‘Cuse coaches have offered nearly 20 prospects in the 2025 cycle, as far as I can tell, the Orange is honed in on about seven or eight targets in this class at this juncture, including Jackson.

He was on the Baltimore Catholic League’s All-League second team as a sophomore while starring for the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, but as a junior in the current 2023-24 campaign, Jackson is playing in the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite.

In his junior season, Jackson is playing for the City Reapers, and you can check out his 2023-24 statistics via the Overtime Elite Web site. The City Reapers, by the way, are one of the top teams so far in 2023-24 in this league.

Last July, Jackson was a standout for the Baltimore-based Team Thrill in the Under Armour Association league (“UAA”), helping guide this AAU program to an UAA championship in the 16U division.

In addition to his No. 21 national ranking from ESPN, both of the industry-generated rating systems, the 247Sports Composite and the On3 Industry Ranking, had Jackson as a top-30 overall player and a top-five point guard/combo guard in the 2025 class when I wrote this article.

For what it’s worth, at the time of this writing, Syracuse basketball was in the lead in Jackson’s recruitment, followed by Maryland at No. 2, according to On3’s recruiting prediction machine. That, however, could change as he takes more visits in the future.
