Syracuse basketball coaches offered a scholarship to 2025 five-star point guard Tyler Jackson from Baltimore in late April of last year, and he has said on numerous occasions in interviews that he’s had an interest in visiting the Orange.
That trip to the Hill has reportedly come to fruition. Per top national recruiting analyst Joe Tipton of On3, the 6-foot-3 Jackson plans to take an official visit to the ‘Cuse on January 27, which is all kinds of awesome.
Jackson’s trip to Central New York will be his first official visit. In mid-December, he went on an unofficial visit to Southeastern Conference member Auburn.
Listed by recruiting services as either a point guard or a combo guard, Jackson is a consensus top-35 national prospect and a top-five player at his position.

Jackson, as a sophomore during the 2022-23 season, was named to the Baltimore Catholic League’s All-League second team while helping lead the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association (“MIAA”) A Conference title.
For his junior year in 2023-24, he transferred to the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite. He’s currently having a solid season for the City Reapers, which is one of several Overtime Elite squads based in Atlanta.
Beyond the Orange, Jackson’s full offer sheet to date includes college squads such as Auburn, Indiana, Villanova, LSU, Old Dominion, Pittsburgh, Virginia Tech, California, Kansas, Alabama, Maryland, Illinois, Rutgers, Seton Hall, DePaul, George Mason, Georgia Tech, Rhode Island, Houston, Penn State, UCF, Mississippi State, Arizona State and Wake Forest, among others.
In early July at the conclusion of the most recent AAU season, Jackson was a key contributor as the Baltimore-based Team Thrill won the 16U championship in the Under Armour Association league (“UAA”).
It’s a big-time development that the ‘Cuse coaching staff is getting Tyler Jackson on the SU campus for an official visit toward the end of this month.
When I wrote this article on Sunday morning, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rated him as five stars, No. 22 overall, No. 5 at point guard and No. 4 in Georgia.
Orange coaches have offered nearly 20 prospects in the junior cycle, although I’m sensing around seven 2025 players have emerged as priority recruits for Syracuse basketball in this class.
At the end of December, 2025 four-star small forward London Jemison took an official visit to the Hill. In September and October, those 2025 prospects who went on either official or unofficial visits to the ‘Cuse were four-star forward Sadiq White Jr., four-star point guard Nigel James, four-star combo guard Derek Dixon, four-star big man Matthew Gilhool and four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony.
