Syracuse basketball 5-star target, No. 1 prospect, shines at Peach Jam as offers grow
By Neil Adler
Syracuse basketball recruit Baba Oladotun, an elite prospect from the talent-rich Washington, D.C., metropolitan area, is off to a solid start at Peach Jam this week and continues to see his offer sheet soar.
In late June, the Orange staff offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-9 small forward/power forward, who is rated as five stars and the No. 1 national prospect by ESPN in the 2027 class.
As a rising sophomore at James Hubert Blake High School in Silver Spring, Md., Oladotun's recruitment is just getting underway, but already, he's amassed a bunch of offers from top-flight college programs. It's encouraging, though, that 'Cuse coaches are getting involved with him early on in his recruiting process.
One of his most recent offers is from Texas, which for the 2024-25 season has moved to the Southeastern Conference.
His full offer sheet, per media reports, his X page and recruiting services, also includes schools such as Indiana, Maryland, Florida State, LSU, Hawaii, Cincinnati, Butler, Michigan, Rutgers, Southern California, UCLA, Tennessee, West Virginia, Louisville, Mississippi State, Virginia Tech, Howard and Bryant.
That's quite an impressive list. Plus, college coaches can begin initiating direct communication with 2027 prospects on June 15 of next year, so undeniably, Oladotun's offer list will balloon at that time, if not sooner.
Syracuse basketball faces growing competition for 2027 five-star forward Baba Oladotun.
In late June, around the time that the 'Cuse offered Oladotun, the Orange staff was in attendance for him as he suited up for Blake at the Philly Live event during a scholastic live period. Also in June, Oladotun received high praise from analysts and scouts for his performances at both the National Basketball Players Association ("NBPA") Top 100 Camp in Orlando, Fla., and the Nike Elite 100 Camp in St. Louis.
This spring and summer, Oladotun is running with the 15U squad of the Oxon Hill, Md.-based Team Durant in Nike's EYBL league. The EYBL's annual Peach Jam tourney takes place through July 21 in North Augusta, S.C., and there's another live period coming up this weekend.
Oladotun and his Team Durant colleagues are vying for a Peach Jam title in the 15U division. Through its first three games at Peach Jam, Team Durant is 2-1 overall.
Per the EYBL Web site, in those trio of contests, Oladotun is averaging 14.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.3 blocks per encounter.
Also in late June, Syracuse basketball coaches offered a scholarship to 2027 four-star power forward Zion Green. The 6-foot-8 Green, a rising sophomore at the Imhotep Institute Charter High School in Philadelphia, is ranked by ESPN as the No. 19 overall player in this class.
