Former Notre Dame verbal commit CJ May, a 2025 four-star edge who will officially visit Syracuse football later this month, has a commitment announcement date in mind.

Per 247Sports, the 6-foot-4, 225-pound May plans to unveil his college decision on July 13. Based on recent articles and comments from national analysts, it does appear that the Orange is one of the main contenders in May's recruitment.

May has said via his X page that he plans to take an official visit to the 'Cuse from June 14 to June 16. Last weekend, he went on an official visit to fellow Atlantic Coast Conference squad Louisville.

Under his bio on the 247Sports Web site, those college suitors listed as "warm" in May's recruitment include Syracuse football, Auburn, Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Washington. He was offered by Orange head coach Fran Brown and his staff on January 21 of this year.

A standout rising senior at Highland Home High School in Highland Home, Ala., May is rated as high as No. 145 nationally in his class by 247Sports. He verbally committed to the Fighting Irish last September but thenย de-committed and reopened his recruitment in early February of 2024, according to recruiting services.

Another Syracuse football 2025 target has set his decision date.

This past weekend, 2025 three-star wide receiver Gabe Daniels was one of numerous rising high school seniors who were on the Hill taking official visits. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Daniels, out of the Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Ga., has a top three of the 'Cuse, fellow ACC member N.C. State and Kansas.

Daniels said in a post on X this week that he plans to make his commitment announcement on June 24. He was offered by Syracuse football coaches on March 8 of this year. In a recent interview, Daniels told 247Sports analyst Mike McAllister that his official visit to Central New York went well, which is encouraging.

That being said, before his college decision arrives, Daniels is taking official visits to N.C. State during the weekend of June 14 and then to Kansas during the weekend of June 21, according to his bio on the 247Sports Web site.

As I've noted in various columns of late, the month of June is a busy one with an abundance of 2025 three-star and four-star players taking official visits to Syracuse football.

Two other recruits in this class, four-star running back Kentrell Rinehart and four-star quarterback Malik Washington, are also eyeing upcoming commitment announcements.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Rinehart, out of Westland High School in Galloway, Ohio, plans to make his college decision known on July 5. He is scheduled to officially visit the 'Cuse from June 14 to June 16.

The 6-foot-5, 200-pound Washington, a top-flight signal-caller out of Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, Md., is planning to take an official visit to Syracuse football this coming weekend. A recent 247Sports story said that Washington could make his commitment announcement on or around June 28.

To date, the Orange staff has secured at least 19 verbal commitments in its 2025 class, a cycle that currently hovers around the top 10 nationwide, per several recruiting services.
