Siena standout guard Gavin Doty, who entered the transfer portal as it opened on Tuesday, has committed to Syracuse basketball, according to reports from Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports and others.
Doty's move from the Saints to the 'Cuse was expected. His former head coach at Siena, Gerry McNamara, is the new head coach of the Orange. Multiple reports of late had indicated that the 6-foot-5, 190-pound Doty would likely follow GMac to Syracuse basketball.

At least two of Doty's assistant coaches during his playing days at Siena have also joined the Orange staff. They are Ben Lee and Arinze Onuaku.
Syracuse basketball has a pair of 4-star pledges.
Doty was instrumental in helping lead Siena to a 23-12 overall record and the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference ("MAAC") Tournament title during the 2025-26 season. The Saints, as a No. 16 seed, played No. 1 seed Duke extremely close in a first-round battle of the 2026 NCAA Tournament, which wrapped up on Monday evening with Michigan winning the national title.
As a sophomore, Doty averaged 36.8 minutes, 18.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game while connecting on 45.8 percent from the field, 32.6 percent from beyond the arc and 85.8 percent from the free-throw line.
For his efforts, Doty was an unanimous selection to the All-MAAC first team. In national transfer rankings from 247Sports on Tuesday, he was rated four stars, No. 47 nationally and No. 8 at shooting guard.
Doty is GMac's second commitment thus far in his early days as SU's head coach. On Monday, word came out that European sharpshooter Mark Morano Mahmutovic had pledged to Syracuse basketball. The 6-foot-7 Mahmutovic is a four-star prospect in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports.

To date, at least five Orange players from the 2025-26 campaign, when the 'Cuse went 15-17 overall, are expected to enter the portal. They are freshman guard Luke Fennell, junior point guard Naithan George, sophomore forward Tyler Betsey, freshman center Tiefing Diawara and freshman wing Aaron Womack III, who took a redshirt this past term.
We're waiting on decisions from sophomore power forward Donnie Freeman, redshirt senior small forward Nate Kingz (who would need a waiver from the NCAA to play another season of Division I hoops), freshman forward forward Sadiq White Jr., freshman guard/wing Kiyan Anthony and redshirt sophomore big man Akir Souare.
