Jack Donohue, a fast-rising three-star wing in the 2027 class from Albany, N.Y., has verbally committed to Syracuse basketball, Inside the Loud House learned on Monday night. Donohue also shared the news on his Instagram page.
He wrote in part: "I am blessed to announce my commitment to Syracuse University! I want to thank Coach McNamara and the entire Syracuse basketball coaching staff for this incredible opportunity and for believing in me every step of the way."

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Donohue is the first 2027 verbal pledge for the Orange under first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff. Donohue was offered by McNamara last summer while he was still the head coach at Siena.
After McNamara took over the 'Cuse program this past March, he and assistant coach Ben Lee, who moved from the Saints to SU this spring, continued to recruit Donohue hard. Donohue's strong relationship that he's built over the years with McNamara and Lee, among others, sealed the deal in him picking the 'Cuse, Inside the Loud House is told.
Syracuse basketball is on the board in its 2027 class.
Donohue, who had to endure open-heart surgery last year, attends The Newman School in Boston, which went 38–3 overall in the 2025-26 season and won the national prep championship, among other titles. He previously played at the Christian Brothers Academy in Albany.

The new Orange staff offered a scholarship to Donohue in late June of this year. He took an unofficial visit to the 'Cuse on June 22 that went well, Inside the Loud House first reported.

Besides Syracuse basketball, Donohue's full scholarship offer sheet included schools such as Marist, Florida Atlantic, Penn State, Siena (a re-offer from the new Saints staff), Holy Cross, Tennessee Tech, Penn, Albany, Hampton, Bryant and La Salle. Teams that have showed some level of interest in Donohue include Villanova, TCU, George Washington and Duquesne, among others.
This spring and summer on the Under Armour Association ("UAA") circuit, Donohue played for the 17U team of the Jersey Shore, N.J.-based NJ ShoreShots. At the UAA's season-ending playoffs last month in Louisville, Ky., Donohue was lauded by scouts at The Circuit for his performances, as he averaged 11.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.
Within the 2027 class, the industry-generated 247Sports Composite places Donohue as three stars, No. 271 overall, No. 60 at small forward and No. 4 in Massachusetts.
