Jack Donohue, a 2027 wing from Albany, N.Y., has scored a scholarship offer from Syracuse basketball and its first-year head coach, Gerry McNamara.

The 6-foot-8 Donohue, who, according to reports and social media posts, had open-heart surgery last year, noted the Orange offer via his social media accounts. A huge congrats to Jack!

Donohue previously suited up at the Christian Brothers Academy in Albany. This past season, he competed for The Newman School in Boston, which had a fabulous 2025-26 campaign.

Per recruiting services and Donohue's social media pages, his full offer sheet also includes teams such as Holy Cross, Tennessee Tech, Penn, Albany, Hampton, La Salle and Bryant. McNamara, when he was the head coach of Siena, had offered Donohue, and he has been re-offered by the new Saints staff under head coach Nevada Smith.

Syracuse basketball coaches have offered numerous 2027 prospects of late.

In 2025-26, Donohue's high school program, The Newman School, went 38–3 overall and claimed the New England Basketball League ("NEBL") title, the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council ("NEPSAC") Class AAA crown and, this past March, the national prep championship.

Last month, Jackson Johnson, the head coach of The Newman School, was named to the same role at the powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. His replacement at Newman is Justin Perron, who most recently was the head coach at the St. Mark's School in Southborough, Mass.

This spring and summer on the AAU circuits, Donohue is suiting up for the 17U team of the Jersey Shore, N.J.-based NJ ShoreShots in the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league. According to statistics on the UAA Web site, through eight games, Donohue is averaging 10.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while connecting on 38 percent from the field and 38 percent from beyond the arc.

In late May and early June, Donohue competed in the prestigious Pangos All-American Camp, an invite-only, annual showcase in Las Vegas. At Pangos, Donohue played on the same team as 2027 four-star forward Zion Green from Philadelphia, who has been re-offered by McNamara and his assistants.

Other 2027 recruiting targets for SU include four-star shooting guard RJ Moore of the Ambassador Christian School in Huntersville, N.C., five-star point guard Nasir Anderson of Prolific Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., five-star center Lewis Uvwo, also of Prolific Prep, five-star point guard King Gibson of the Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, four-star center Caleb Ourigou of the Atlanta-based league Overtime Elite, four-star big man Ahmed Nur of CIA Bella Vista in Phoenix and four-star power forward Ian Condon of the Sidwell Friends School in Washington, D.C., among others.
