Ryan Moesch, the Central New York native and 2026 four-star point guard, is officially Orange.

Per SU Athletics, earlier this week, the 6-1, 170-pound Moesch has accepted a written offer of athletic aid to play for Syracuse basketball and its head coach, Gerry McNamara. A huge congrats from 'Cuse Nation to Ryan!

Given that he hails from CNY, there is a contingent of the SU fan base that is already quite familiar with Moesch. However, for those who aren't, let's look back at his tremendous high school career as a talented, yet underrated prospect in the 2026 cycle.

A snapshot of Ryan Moesch's prep playing days.

The media release from SU Athletics on Moesch provides excellent glimpses into his elite performances over the past five seasons, starting at nearby Chittenango High School in Chittenango, N.Y., and culminating at a prep-school powerhouse, the Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Mass.

First and foremost, Moesch played two games for Chittenango as an EIGHTH GRADER. In the 2021-22 season, Chittenango went 23-2 and won the Section III Class B title. Moesch averaged 14.3 points, 2.5 assists and 2.7 steals per game.

In 2022-23, as a sophomore, he averaged 23.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 3.3 steals per contest as Chittenango went 20-3. As a junior, the Bears were 14-7, and Moesch became the program's all-time leading scorer. He reached at least 50 points twice, and for the 2023-24 campaign, Moesch averaged a ridiculous 36.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 3.4 steals per encounter.

Moesch, the shifty lefty point guard who would ultimately reclassify to the 2026 cycle, spent 2024-25 and 2025-26 at Cushing. In 2024-25, the Penguins sported a 26-6 record and claimed the New England Basketball League ("NEBL") crown.

In the most recent campaign, 2025-26, Cushing went 29-6 overall and a perfect 17-0 in NEBL competition while winning the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council ("NEPSAC") Class AA title. Moesch averaged 17 points and six assists per game and was named to the All-NEPSAC Class AA team.

Last summer, as a standout for the 17U team of the Boston-based Middlesex Magic in the Under Armour Association ("UAA") league, Moesch helped lead the Middlesex Magic to a third-place finish during the UAA playoffs. The scouting experts at The Circuit named Moesch to their All-UAA second team after he averaged 11.8 points per game.

Moesch is inside the top 150 nationally of his class, per 247Sports. He's also a top-15 point guard. He had been committed to Siena but was granted his release from the Saints after McNamara was hired by SU as its next men's basketball head coach.

When Moesch signed with Siena last November, McNamara said in part: "Ryan is must-see TV with the basketball in his hands. He has that fast-twitch change of pace that you can't teach, but the thing that separates him most is his elite eyesight and the ability to read defenses to control a game. I love that Ryan doesn't care if he has to score to beat you or do it with the pass, just as long as his team wins."

I'm highly confident that Syracuse basketball fans will love watching Moesch play for the Orange.
