Syracuse basketball appears to be on the outside looking in for 2026 four-star small forward Maximo Adams, a California-based prospect who had a stock-rising spring and summer on the EYBL circuit.
The Orange staff offered a scholarship to the 6-foot-8 Adams in late June. Around that time, one of his AAU coaches told me that Adams was highly interested in taking an official visit to the Hill, likely this fall.

However, more recently, Adams' offer sheet has blown up with newer offers from blue-blood and heavyweight programs such as Duke, Michigan State, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas, Illinois, Alabama and Houston, among others.
I was told this week that the 'Cuse is likely out of the mix for Adams, and that was reinforced when news broke that he had set up a bunch of official visits. The Orange is not on Adams' visit calendar, unfortunately.
Syracuse basketball is likely not a contender for 4-star small forward Maximo Adams.
According to a post on X from On3/Rivals national reporter Joe Tipton, Adams has set official visits to Kentucky, Michigan State, Kansas, North Carolina, Texas and Duke.
Adams is a rising senior at the Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, Calif. In mid-March of this year, he helped lead Sierra Canyon to the California Division I championship, the program's first state title since 2019.
Pretty undeniable that Maximo Adams was the most productive forward in the EYBL this season.

20.5pts, 11.4reb, 52% FG, 42% 3pt
Shot-making off the dribble, + the footwork, particularly noteworthy.

On the EYBL circuit this spring and summer, Adams played at a high level for the 17U team of the Las Vegas-based Vegas Elite. Not too long ago, 247Sports director of scouting Adam Finkelstein named Adams as the most productive forward in the EYBL league this past grassroots hoops season.
In recent months, Adams also earned praise from national analysts and scouts for his performances at other showcases, including the annual Pangos All-American Camp in Las Vegas. That has helped fuel his offer list surge, and Adams also recently jumped in updated rankings from Rivals.
Rivals currently has him at No. 29 overall in the 2026 class. Analysts say that Adams could make a run at five-star status with a strong senior year at Sierra Canyon.
With Adams likely not an option for the 'Cuse, from a wing/small forward perspective in the 2026 cycle, Syracuse basketball fans will want to monitor five-star Alex Constanza, four-star Vaughn Karvala and recently offered four-star Ralph Scott.
