Analysts, scouts on Syracuse 5-star commit Moussa Kamissoko: 'The sky is the ceiling for him.'

Syracuse basketball first-year head coach Gerry McNamara and his assistants brought their 2027 high school class to two members late last week after five-star wing/small forward Moussa Kamissoko verbally committed to the Orange.

The 6-foot-8, 180-pound Kamissoko, No. 7 nationally per Rivals, joins Albany, N.Y., product Jack Donohue, a three-star wing at The Newman School in Boston, in SU's 2027 cycle. The 'Cuse staff continues to recruit at least one other high school senior, although it's entirely possible that SU could be done in this class.

Kamissoko will spend his senior year at the powerhouse Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, which is a significant contender to win a high school national championship in the upcoming 2026-27 campaign. On Nike's EYBL circuit this past spring and summer, Kamissoko was a standout performer for the 17U team of the Bronx, N.Y.-based PSA Cardinals.

So what kind of prospect is Kamissoko, and how will the Bronx native fit in at the 'Cuse during the 2027-28 season (and potentially beyond that)? Inside the Loud House spoke to numerous national analysts and scouts, and here are their responses below.

"This is a statement recruit for Gerry McNamara. Moussa Kamissoko is an active athletic forward who impacts the game as a scorer, rebounder, finisher, defender, and transition playmaker. His physical profile and versatility resemble those of Tari Eason.

Analysis: With room to operate, Kamissoko uses his length, long strides and developing skill set to attack the game. His greatest offensive value comes inside the arc and near the basket, as he shot 56.3% on 2-point attempts in EYBL play. His perimeter shooting remains a work in progress, though he has shown flashes of promise when given time and space. Defensively, Kamissoko can guard the forward position and could use his length in a zone or trapping scheme to close passing lanes and challenge shots.

When scouting his game, I love his productivity. When he plays within himself, he could be a major piece early on as a freshman at Syracuse."

"Moussa's length, speed, and two-way versatility were substantial factors in him authoring the summer he did with the PSA Cardinals. With his size, explosiveness, basketball IQ and awareness, he has a refined toolset, which will enable him to play a significant role from Day 1.

His 3-point range, ability to elicit mismatches and score via the stepback and create air space, this was all noteworthy during his play on the EYBL circuit. Coach (Donovan) Jones always talks about how coachable he is, and his attention to all the little details. He has a great chance to put a memorable finishing touch on an illustrious prep career at SPIRE, playing in a star-spangled lineup under one of the winningest and most highly decorated coaches in Kevin Boyle. This is a major pickup for Syracuse, which beat out a handful of heavy hitters and high-profile, traditional high-major powers in the process.

Moussa has grown in his ability to pioneer game-breaking runs, which is an aspect witnessed back during EYBL Session 1. He had multiple games in which he turned in personal 8-0 runs, bucketed back-to-back shots to spark a scoring surge, and really led by action as one of the more weathered, proven recruits throughout the entire, teeming-with-talent EYBL. He has a high skill set, is never plagued by selfishness or an emphasis on individual totals, and constantly impacts winning. With him being a modern-day long, multi-layered scorer with a guard/wing's skill set, he should have instant success under coach McNamara."

"Moussa is a really intriguing prospect who has been one of the top players in his class for years now. He’s a long, athletic wing who can impact the game on both ends, and I think his defensive versatility is one of his biggest strengths. He has the length and mobility to guard multiple spots, and offensively he has the tools to develop into a really good two-way piece. Definitely still has room to grow offensively.

I think Syracuse is a really good fit for him. The length and athleticism he brings fit what they want to do defensively, and I like the opportunity for him to continue developing his offensive game in that system. There’s still room for him to become more consistent as a shooter and add strength, but the upside is definitely there.
