Syracuse basketball coaches have multiple scholarships available for their roster in the upcoming 2026-27 campaign, and it's likely that the Orange staff will bring on board another front-court player or two, as both center and power forward are priority spots for the 'Cuse these days.
The Orange's group of guards for 2026-27 seems plentiful, but the front-court is lacking depth (and likely, a starting center). SU, since the transfer portal opened on April 7, has been linked to various transfer centers, some of whom have lately picked other college destinations for next season.
Four-star transfer center Owen Freeman, a junior at Creighton, is headed to Auburn. Boise State junior Drew Fielder, a four-star prospect previously recruited by the 'Cuse, is transferring to Alabama.
Four-star transfer center Bukky Oboye, a sophomore at Santa Clara, is also joining Auburn. Seton Hall freshman Najai Hines, a four-star transfer prospect, is moving to another Big East Conference school, UConn. There are just a few examples.
So, which transfer centers might Syracuse basketball pursue moving forward?
SU head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff have already landed two pledges from international prospects. Thus, it's feasible that the Orange could look for another power forward/center via overseas, or even the junior college route.
