Syracuse basketball has shown some level of interest in three-star transfer forward Evan Chatman, who had a solid junior campaign at UAB out of the American Conference.
That's according to a post on X from 247Sports national analyst Brandon Jenkins, who noted that Chatman is receiving interest from other schools such as Baylor, Georgia Tech, Tulsa, UC Santa Barbara, Saint Mary's, Seton Hall and USC.

The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Chatman, who hails from Harker Heights, Texas, reportedly has visits set to Baylor on Monday and Tulsa on Tuesday, according to the 247Sports report.
During the 2025-26 campaign, Chatman played alongside former 'Cuse guard/wing Chance Westry, who is transferring to Big East Conference member Xavier. This past term, UAB went 20-12 overall.
Syracuse basketball has reached out regarding transfer forward Evan Chatman.
As a junior, Chatman averaged 28.9 minutes, 8.8 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 0.8 blocks per game while connecting on 43.3 percent from the field, 27.5 percent from 3-point land and 68.6 percent from the free-throw line.
Before suiting up at UAB, Chatman played for two seasons at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas. In 2024-25, at McLennan, Chatman averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks per encounter while connecting on 45.1 percent from the field, 34.1 percent from beyond the arc and 83.0 percent from the charity stripe.
On Sunday, in national transfer rankings from 247Sports, Chatman checked in as three stars, No. 283 overall and No. 58 at power forward.
The transfer portal opened for business on April 7 and will run through April 21. Head coach Gerry McNamara and his staff are building out their 2026-27 roster, which sits at 11 players at this juncture. They are:
•Ryan Moesch, a 2026 four-star point guard from Central New York
•Mark Morano Mahmutovic, a 2026 four-star wing from Slovenia
•Center Abdramane Siby, a 2026 prospect from Mali
•Freshman guard Kiyan Anthony
•Freshman forward Sadiq White Jr.
•Freshman wing Calvin Russell III
•Sophomore guard Noah Lobdell
•Sophomore guard Aiden Tobiason, a four-star transfer from Temple
•Junior guard Garwey Dual, a four-star transfer from McNeese State
•Sophomore guard Gavin Doty, a four-star transfer from Siena
•Junior power forward/center Tasman Goodrick, a transfer from Siena
With their remaining scholarships, if I had to venture a guess, I think that the 'Cuse coaching staff will focus on a center, a point guard, a forward and a 3-point specialist out on the wing (i.e., a shooting guard/small forward).
