Alabama trying to flip Baltimore 3-star TE who recently pledged to Syracuse football

Michael Nnabuife committed to Syracuse last month. He will officially visit Alabama and then the 'Cuse coming up.

One of the biggest brands in college football is hoping to flip a Syracuse verbal commit from Baltimore.

Per recruiting analysts, 2027 three-star tight end Michael Nnabuife plans to take an official visit to Southeastern Conference powerhouse Alabama this coming weekend, from June 5 to June 7.

The 6-foot-5, 242-pound Nnabuife, a standout rising senior at the Saint Frances Academy in Baltimore, verbally pledged to head coach Fran Brown and the 'Cuse on May 20, picking Syracuse football over several other finalists, including the juggernaut Crimson Tide. As I've reported, Nnabuife is expected to take an official visit to the Orange from June 12 to June 14.

Should 'Cuse Nation be worried about Alabama hosting Nnabuife on an upcoming official visit? From my perspective, not really. High school prospects take official visits to programs beyond the ones that they are committed to all the time. It's nothing new.

That being said, Alabama is Alabama. Sure, the legendary Nick Saban isn't the Crimson Tide's head coach anymore. But Kalen DeBoer did guide Alabama to a berth in the 12-team College Football Playoff in the most recent term. The Crimson Tide went 11-4 overall and reached the CFP's quarterfinal round, falling there to eventual national champion Indiana.

Alabama will attempt to flip 2027 3-star TE Michael Nnabuife.

One thing to note is that a Saint Frances Academy teammate of Nnabuife is 2026 five-star safety Jireh Edwards, who, in the upcoming season, will be a freshman with the Crimson Tide.

Then again, two of Nnabuife's Saint Frances Academy teammates are committed to the Orange. They are 2026 three-star linebacker Maurice Medley and 2027 three-star running back/athlete Sa’Nir Brooks, who will also officially visit SU from June 12 to June 14.

For what it's worth, when I wrote this article, the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine had Alabama in the lead in Nnabuife's recruitment, with Syracuse football in the No. 2 spot. This could be something, but it could also be nothing, since these sorts of predictions aren't always accurate.

It's important to add here that the Orange coaching staff has recruited Nnabuife hard for a while now, first offering him a scholarship in late April of last year. Nnabuife has said that he pledged to SU in large part due to his strong relationship with Brown, co-offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Michael Johnson and recruiting coach Charles Watkins.

Let's see how Nnabuife's official visits to Alabama and Syracuse football go over the next two weekends. Hopefully, the Orange staff gets that hibachi blazing when Nnabuife is on the Hill in mid-June!
