Michael Nnabuife, a 2027 three-star tight end from Baltimore who verbally committed to Syracuse football on Wednesday afternoon, plans to officially visit the Orange program from June 12 to June 14, a source tells me.

In February, the 6-foot-5, 242-pound Nnabuife said on X that he would officially visit the 'Cuse from May 29 to May 31, but that SU official visit is now slated for mid-June. On Wednesday, he verbally pledged to the Orange over other finalists Alabama, Florida, Maryland and N.C. State.

Nnabuife is a standout at Baltimore powerhouse program Saint Frances Academy. Two of his teammates are also committed to Syracuse football. They are 2026 three-star linebacker Maurice Medley and 2027 three-star running back/athlete Sa’Nir Brooks, who will also officially visit SU from June 12 to June 14.

The Saint Frances Academy is one of the top football programs in the country, and 'Cuse coaches continue to recruit that team hard (I love that, given that I'm from the Baltimore area).

The Orange staff has pursued Nnabuife for a while, first offering a scholarship to him in late April of 2025. He has visited the team, unofficially, on several occasions.

Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown, co-offensive coordinator/tight ends coach Michael Johnson and recruiting coach Charles Watkins all put in tremendous work to forge a strong relationship with Nnabuife, and that was huge in the Orange prevailing.

"I chose Syracuse because of my relationship with the coaching staff and how I could be featured in that offense," Nnabuife told 247Sports, and he also has been impressed with the success of other recent 'Cuse tight ends, namely, Oronde Gadsden II and Dan Villari.

Syracuse football will welcome a lot of prospects to campus soon on official visits.

Messay Hailemariam, the head coach of the Saint Frances Academy, had this to say about Nnabuife in an interview with Rivals. "His measureables are ridiculous. His presence is legit. He can flex out and look like a wide receiver and that’s what’s exciting about him. And he can get in the box and play H, fullback, tight end, he has all the measureables and features that make him a guy that can play on Sundays."

The Orange's 2027 class has 13 verbal commits at this juncture. It is ranked No. 21 nationally by 247Sports and No. 35 overall, according to Rivals.

Nnabuife is SU's first tight end commit in the 2027 cycle, although Syracuse football coaches are in pursuit of others. On Tuesday, 2027 tight end Joey Hunter of Grayson High School in Loganville, Ga., named a top five of the 'Cuse, Georgia Tech, N.C. State, Nebraska and Pittsburgh.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound Hunter has said that he plans to officially visit Syracuse football from June 18 to June 20.
