5-star Moussa Kamissoko excited to play in packed Dome, help Syracuse compete for a national title

Toward the beginning of September, 2027 five-star wing/forward Moussa Kamissoko from the Bronx, N.Y., took an official visit to Syracuse men's basketball, the program that he verbally committed to on Friday morning.

The 6-foot-8, 180-pound Kamissoko told ESPN's Jeff Borzello and Paul Biancardi that on his visit to the Hill, the JMA Wireless Dome "is what impressed me the most. Having the opportunity to play in that atmosphere when it's packed is something I imagined while there on my visit. Can't wait to play in front of the Cuse fans."

Kamissoko, ranked as high as No. 7 nationally in the high school senior class per Rivals, says that he remembers watching the Orange while growing up in New York City. He told ESPN that once the 'Cuse began recruiting him, "it felt like home."

The former SU staff under then-head coach Adrian Autry first offered a scholarship to Kamissoko in late December 2024. Gerry McNmara replaced Autry at the program's helm this past March, and the Orange's first-year head coach, along with his assistants, pushed hard for Kamissoko over the past several months.

While it remains to be seen what the Orange's 2027-28 roster will entail, national analysts and scouts tell Inside the Loud House that Kamissoko will be poised to make an immediate impact as a freshman. "I just want to make sure I'm ready to contribute to winning as soon as I step foot on campus and help compete for a national championship," he told ESPN.

Kamissoko noted McNamara's stellar 'Cuse career, which of course included winning a national title alongside the legendary Carmelo Anthony back in 2003. As is customary on official visits, Kamissoko had a chance to watch McNamara lead a Syracuse practice, and that resonated with the talented 2027 prospect.

"He's a players' coach, and that is what I was looking for," Kamissoko said of McNamara. "You can tell the guys like playing for him. The practice was detailed, with great vibes. Coach has a great development plan for me, and they showed that Cuse has been good when they have wings like me."

Kamissoko will spend his senior year at the powerhouse Spire Academy in Geneva, Ohio, after most recently playing for Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y. This past AAU season, Kamissoko was a standout performer for the 17U team of the Bronx-based PSA Cardinals in Nike's EYBL league.

Syracuse basketball's 2027 class now features two pledges from New York state: Kamissoko and Albany native Jack Donohue, a three-star wing who attends The Newman School in Boston.
