In the early stages of the 2024-25 season, Syracuse basketball target Anthony Brown has put up some massive performances, earning high praise from national analysts and scouts alike.

While the 6-foot-1 Brown continues to be vastly under-ranked in the 2026 class, from my perspective, the four-star point guard is lighting up the scoreboard so far as a junior for his high school in Washington, D.C. Hopefully, he will receive a well-deserved national rankings boost soon.

For 2024-25, Brown transferred to Archbishop Carroll High School in D.C. from St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Va. As you'll see from posts on X that I have sprinkled throughout this column, Brown is playing at an ultra-high level as a junior at Archbishop Carroll.

In late August of 2023, Brown took an unofficial visit to the Orange to compete in the team's annual Elite Camp. Around that time, he picked up a scholarship offer from the 'Cuse staff. Brown's offer sheet also includes schools such as Richmond, Mississippi State, Morehead State, Maryland, College of Charleston, Providence, George Mason, Saint Joseph's, Old Dominion and Norfolk State, according to his X page and recruiting services.

Four-star point guard Anthony Brown is highly interested in Syracuse basketball.

Once the contact period opened for 2026 prospects in mid-June, enabling college coaches to initiate direct communication with high school juniors, Brown heard from the Orange coaching staff. His dad has told me a couple of times that his son eyes an official visit to Syracuse basketball at some point, although nothing has been scheduled as of yet.

According to his dad and some published reports, Brown is in consistent communication with the 'Cuse staff. At this juncture, Brown's top schools, per his dad, include Maryland, Syracuse basketball, Mississippi State, South Carolina, Saint Joseph's and Richmond.

Brown's dad told me that his son "loves Syracuse" and also was excited when 2025 four-star shooting guard Kiyan Anthony from New York City committed to the Orange and officially signed with the 'Cuse last month.

Including Brown, I'm aware of at least 15 players in the 2026 class who have secured offers from the Orange. Three others to note here are five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr., four-star guard Prince-Alexander Moody and five-star wing Qayden Samuels.

Smith is a junior at St. Paul VI. Moody and Samuels are standouts at Bishop McNamara High School in Forestville, Md. Archbishop Carroll, St. Paul VI and Bishop McNamara are all members of one of the country's top high school basketball leagues, the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference ("WCAC").

Additionally, this past spring and summer during the most recent AAU season, Brown, Moody and Samuels suited up for the 16U squad of the D.C.-based Team Takeover in Nike's EYBL league.

At the EYBL's annual season-ending Peach Jam tournament, held this past July in North Augusta, S.C., Syracuse basketball head coach Adrian Autry was on hand to watch a Team Takeover game in the 16U division, according to 247Sports national analyst/scout Brandon Jenkins.

When I penned this article, the industry-generated On3 Industry Ranking, within the 2026 cycle, had Brown at No. 110 overall, No. 14 at point guard and No. 1 in D.C. Over at ESPN, he is four stars and the No. 11 point guard nationwide among high school juniors.
