Syracuse Basketball: 4-star PG Anthony Brown electric in AAU, eyes SU official visit
By Neil Adler
Fast-rising 2026 prospect Anthony Brown, who holds a Syracuse basketball offer, has put up some monster games on the AAU circuit this weekend and is poised to see his rankings soar, analysts and scouts say.
The 'Cuse staff offered the four-star point guard a scholarship in late August of 2023, around the time that he took an unofficial visit to the Hill to compete in the Orange's annual Elite Camp.
To date, Brown's early offer sheet includes Syracuse basketball, Providence, George Mason and Norfolk State. However, I'm highly confident that his offer list is going to significantly grow soon.
Next month, the contact period for the 2026 class opens up, enabling college coaches to initiate direct communication with rising high school juniors. Look for Brown to pick up a ton of additional offers once the contact period opens.
Syracuse basketball 4-star target Anthony Brown is shining in AAU and wants to visit 'Cuse again.
The 6-foot-1 Brown, as a sophomore during the 2023-24 campaign, suited up for the powerhouse St. Paul VI Catholic High School in Chantilly, Va., which in early April finished as the runner-up at the Chipotle Nationals in Brownsburg, Ind.
Earlier this month, Brown said in a post on his X page that he plans to transfer from St. Paul VI for his final two years of high school.
Brown's dad tells me that numerous local and national programs have reached out regarding his son, and they "hope to make a decision right before the summer live period."
Rising high school juniors can start taking official visits to college campuses on August 1 of this year. To that end, Brown's dad says, "Anthony would love to take an official visit there (to Syracuse basketball). He loves the history of the program and the DMV connection. We are just waiting for them to give us some available dates."
This spring and summer in grassroots basketball, Brown is competing for the 16U squad of the Washington, D.C.-based Team Takeover in Nike’s EYBL league. Orange coaches have strong recruiting ties to that AAU program as well as the talent-rich Washington metropolitan area.
The EYBL circuit, to date, has conducted four spring sessions, with a current session wrapping up over the holiday weekend in Kansas City, Mo. Box scores on the EYBL Web site aren't fully updated, however, Brown this weekend has earned high praise from various national analysts and scouts for his play.
In one game on Saturday, a 21-point win for Team Takeover, Brown tallied 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the field. Team Takeover also had a 10-point victory on Friday night, and a post on X from Brown's dad noted that his son registered a whopping 13 assists.
Currently, ESPN ranks Brown as four stars, No. 13 at point guard and No. 5 in Virginia within the 2026 class. As recruiting services update their ratings for this cycle, Brown is positioned to make a jump, per multiple national analysts and scouts, including Travis Graf of MADE Hoops.
Not long after Syracuse basketball offered Brown, top analyst/scout Colby Giacubeno of MADE Hoops and 247Sports said in part to me that this Orange recruit "has an extremely high feel for the game. He makes some of the most impressive reads that I’ve seen from a kid his age, both as a passer and scorer. He knocks down three’s, controls the pace and brings an edge defensively."
