Dakari Spear, who visited Syracuse basketball last month, will square off with other Orange recruits in the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite.

The 6-foot-4 Spear, a 2026 four-star shooting guard from Texas, is spending his senior year at the powerhouse Dynamic Prep in Irving, Texas. He transferred there from The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas.

A season ago, Dynamic Prep reached the championship game of April's Chipotle Nationals in Fishers, Ind. In the 2025-26 campaign, Spear's senior year, Dynamic Prep should once again compete for a Chipotle Nationals invite as a preseason top-10 team.

However, Spear will also suit up in Overtime Elite. According to social media posts and the league's Web site, Spear and his Dynamic Prep teammates will play in Overtime Elite as FaZe. The head coach of Dynamic Prep and FaZe is former NBA star Jermaine O'Neal.

Other Syracuse basketball recruits are in Overtime Elite as well.

Spear, No. 69 nationally and No. 8 at shooting guard in the 2026 class per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, has a top five of the Orange, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech. Offered a scholarship by the 'Cuse in October of last year, Spear took an official visit to Syracuse basketball in early September and has also officially visited Texas Tech.

Here is Overtime Elite's 2025-26 schedule. Other high school prospects who hold scholarship offers from the Orange staff and are playing in Overtime Elite include 2026 four-star big man Asher Elson, 2027 four-star wing/small forward Clyde Walters, 2027 four-star point guard Anderson Diaz and 2027 four-star big man Caleb Ourigou.

Diaz, Ourigou and Elson are suiting up for the Cold Hearts in 2025-26. This is Elson's second season in Overtime Elite. Diaz and Ourigou both transferred from Lawrence Woodmere Academy in Woodmere, N.Y., which is closed during this school year due to financial issues.

Walters is playing for RWE. He transferred to Overtime Elite from the Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H. This weekend, Elson is taking an official visit to Syracuse basketball. He a priority recruit for the Orange in the 2026 cycle.

I've been told that Walters and Diaz might consider reclassifying to the 2026 cycle, and that the 'Cuse staff may try to get Walters on the Hill for a visit at some point. Last month, at Overtime Elite's fifth-annual pro day, Syracuse basketball assistant coach Allen Griffin was in attendance to watch these various Orange recruits.
