Four-star shooting guard Dakari Spear is one of the latest 2026 prospects who plans to make a trip to Syracuse basketball.
The 6-foot-4 Spear, who hails from Texas, tells my guys Sam Lance and Zach Smart of zagsblog.com that he has "a really close bond" with Orange coaches.
Spear says to zagsblog.com that he is setting up an official visit to the 'Cuse, although I don't have the exact date yet. Spear added: "I’m looking forward to seeing the environment out there, getting a feel for it myself. Whether it’s during a football game, basketball game, whatever the case may be. I’m looking forward to going out there and seeing what it’s really like. It will be my first time in New York. So, I’ll enjoy it."

Within the 2026 class, multiple recruiting services place Spear in the top 75 nationally and in the top 10 at shooting guard.
Four-star guard Dakari Spear will officially visit Syracuse basketball.
The 'Cuse staff offered a scholarship to Spear in October of 2024. Orange coaches have visited him on several occasions, including when he competed for The Colony High School in The Colony, Texas, as well as on the AAU circuit.

For the upcoming 2025-26 campaign, as a senior, Spear will suit up for the powerhouse Dynamic Prep in Irving, Texas, which this past spring advanced to the final game of the Chipotle Nationals season-ending national championship tournament in high school hoops.
Throughout his recruitment, Spear has received more than 15 high-major offers. These days, per zagsblog.com, he is hearing from suitors such as Syracuse basketball, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, SMU, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech, among others.
This spring and summer in Nike's EYBL league, Spear played for the 17U team of the Irving, Texas-based Drive Nation. During the EYBL's regular season, he averaged 14.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per contest.
Last month, at the EYBL's Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C., Spear tallied averages of 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
Regarding the Orange's 2026 recruiting targets, five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr. and four-star wing/small forward Vaughn Karvala will both officially visit the 'Cuse during the weekend that begins on September 26.
Four-star big man Asher Elson will officially visit Syracuse basketball from October 10 to October 12. I also anticipate that five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. will take an official visit to the Orange at some point.
Two other 2026 prospects to monitor are five-star guard/small forward Alex Constanza and four-star power forward MJ Madison. Constanza officially visited the program last October, and his dad has told me that Constanza may take a second trip to Central New York.
I've also been told that Madison is highly interested in visiting Syracuse basketball.
