Asher Elson, a 2026 four-star big man from New York City, is headed to the Hill this fall for a visit.
The 6-foot-10 power forward/center, who hovers around the top 100 nationally in the 2026 class, will take an official visit to Syracuse basketball during the weekend of October 10 to October 12, a source confirmed to me on Wednesday. Dushawn London, a national analyst with 247Sports, had this news first via his X page on Tuesday night.

Elson, in August of 2024, transferred from South Shore High School in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the Atlanta-based professional league Overtime Elite ("OTE"). In the 2023-24 campaign, Elson averaged 16 points and six rebounds per game and was named to the New York City's Public Schools Athletic League ("PSAL") 4A All-League first team.
Last fall, Elson told Rivals senior national analyst/scout Jamie Shaw that he was eyeing a trip to Central New York, and now that official visit is on the books.
Syracuse basketball will host 2026 4-star big man Asher Elson on an official visit.
In the 2024-25 term with Overtime Elite, Elson suited up for the Cold Hearts. In the regular season, he averaged 10.0 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while making 39.1 percent from the field, 32.7 percent from 3-point land and 68.8 percent from the free-throw line.
During Overtime Elite's playoffs in 2024-25, Elson tallied averages of 11.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest while connecting on 46.7 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from downtown and 60.9 percent from the charity stripe.
The Orange staff offered a scholarship to Elson in mid-April of 2024. His full offer sheet, per recruiting services and his X page, also includes schools such as Ole Miss, Maryland, Creighton, Fordham, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Temple and St. John's.
Elson previously was in the 2025 cycle but reclassified to 2026. In the most recent AAU season, he played well for the 17U team of the New York-based New Heights, which earlier this month reached the quarterfinals of the season-ending Adidas 3SSB playoffs. For New Heights, Elson played alongside Syracuse basketball 2026 priority target Deron Rippey Jr., a five-star point guard and a top-20 national prospect from New York City.
As I noted earlier this month, the 'Cuse has offered a wide range of 2026 prospects, although we're still trying to fully determine which rising high school seniors are the top targets for Syracuse basketball in this class.
Regarding official visits, besides Elson, Rippey and 2026 four-star wing/small forward Vaughn Karvala will both travel to the Hill during the weekend that begins on September 26. I first reported on Rippey's official visit to the Orange.
